Just ask him to prove these supposed negative effects. Not with vague chains of dubious reasoning and assumptions, but with empirical data. If there's no empirical data, it's garbage. For this or any other subject.

but this book only re-enforces the thinking that's been enforced and ingrained in society that men are the problem and they're the only ones to blame and the only ones who need to change their ways. Read it already, have you? Or have you just read the back blurb and don't know if the actual book contents are more nuanced and subtle, but the editors used this blurb to sell more copies?

Let's assume 1% of men harass women in the street, and 99% don't (note that this is equivalent to 10% of men being willing to do so, but only harassing 10% of the women they see). Thus, the probability of NOT being harassed after N men pass you in the street is 0.99N which reaches 50% at around 70 men, and only 10% after 230, which you can easily pass in a hour on a busy street in a big ci…
