| 5 | Self filing for divorceI believe some folks think they’ll get screwed over if they don’t have a lawyer involved. It makes sense, divorce is a complicated process. Maybe see if your wife is willing to pick a mediator (not a lawyer) that you can see? Tell your wife that any money that goes to a lawyer won’t go to her in alimony, and that lawyers will intentionally take much longer to make more money. | 3 | Self filing for divorceI don’t have any experience, but I have done some research. I’ve heard/read that mediators are the best option if you and your spouse are able to agree on terms. I believe your county should have designated mediators. You can meet with your spouse and the mediator, set expectations, figure out asset distribution, and get help with paperwork.
