I get the 'investment' angle but since we're talking investments, look up sunk cost fallacy....

Pretty much never! (unless she get's remarried) You should damn well make sure you put a cap on it (not standard settlement boilerplate) so she's not entitled to anything more than the marital standard of living...

Exactly, it's like the sister app to bluesky...full of lefty libs hellbent on censoring everything that doesn't line up with their narrative

I got separated then recently divorced for refusing to get the vax, or allow the kids to be vaxxed. The f'ing irony is I am currently batting 1.000 on my conspiracy theories and she's actually expressed gratitude / thanks for pushing NOT to have the kids 12-15 vaccinated in 2021/2022...

Agree - she'll take house title in her name, maybe even the mortgage via re-finance (as a 'favor to you'), then file RFO and request child support.

After the SH|T I'm going through now, and with my oldest son on the fast track in IB, I will absolutely be making sure the two of us prepare for him prior to any discussion of him getting married. TY for bringing to light some of the many things you can do PRIOR to marriage to protect yourself.

OK, so most..not 'all'. If you have $8mm in assets you wouldn't put everything in. I am assuming that with your new wife, you'd probably want to have a down payment on a marital home available - the 'all' is what got me, obviously best to talk to estate planning atty about this but the key is to carve out / bifurcate pre-marital assets in advance so you are prepared when the inevitable happens...

Regarding 1 though...aside from 'why get married', what bright eyed young buck would want to enter into marriage without a nickel to their name (burying it all in a trust?)

would you want to start a new family anyway?

Do NOT LEAVE the house is key on so many fronts. She wants to walk out, let her be the one who leaves the family home.

In hindsight (24 years married, divorce to be finalized in about 3 months) probably 4 years in after birth of second child...

Do not leave the house is SOLID advice

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
