This was all so informative and definitely got rid of some preconceived ideas that I have no idea why I held, especially while knowing multiple men in or actively seeking therapy. Thanks for putting this together OP ❤

There is no way this girl would admit to a false rape accusation to a stranger on Facebook. She is probably in panic mode realising how in over her head she is with the magnitude of her lie, and because of that will fight tooth and nail for the truth not to come out.

The service is called Better Help. I think it is available in both the USA and Canada but I'm not positive. I just see their advertisements constantly. Its a contactless service, so text ,email and phone calls with a therapist. Which to me seemed like a cool idea, especially during a pandemic. And was thinking of shooting their link to a few friends of mine that it might potentially benifit But after checking out their platform I had to double check to see if it wasn't specifically for women. Wh…

This was actually very interesting to read. Thanks for putting the time and thought into your response to this. This is turning into sort of a rabbit hole of research for me. I recently messaged that mental health service 'better help' asking why like 97 percent of their ads are aimed at women , including their social media platforms which are pretty well drenched in light pastels and florals . I've yet to receive a response yet, but I am very very curious .

Why are women even being brought up ? Even sarcastically. Isn't the purpose of this group to discuss issues that men are facing daily ? This comment adds absolutely nothing to anything at all except division.

https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/publications/healthy-living/suicide-canada-key-statistics-infographic.html I'm not totally sure if this is what you are asking for. If you mean by each country those type of statistics should be accessible through your government public health information.

Lol honestly, I get it, but this is exhausting. Not everything has to be compared all of the time. To me, this stat says more to the lack of resources available geared towards men, and says absolutely nothing about blaming 'toxic masculinity'.

Ahh okay. Thanks for clarifying :)

Yikes on this brutal crop job, apologies. Stats are from Health Canada. This particular graph is pretty dated ,but it gave me a punch in the gut .

I wonder if that plays a part in how women tend to react to men showing emotion on that scale, growing up never seeing that side and having no idea how to behave/ react when they do. I can see that attributing to awkwardness and being uncomfortable , but not to any outright revulsion.

I do plan on watching it. You're the second or third person to recommend it, I look forward to it. I don't think being unsuccessful in changing someone's views is necessarily a waste of time. I'm not going to say that im going to agree with every argument or view point by any means. But nothing gets accomplished by willful ignorance. And to me a lot of the issues men face are human rights issues that are swept under the rug constantly.

By saying this lecture hall should be full exclusively of girls, does this mean you don't believe that there are different but similar standards put on to women ? And I fully agree that it's absurd saying that sexism Cannot exist because of assumed power dynamics. I've never heard anyone hold that view point , but I suppose it's not all that surprising either.

Honestly it isn't hard to see the sexism and double standards , even just in the media, the way that it seems entirely fine for women to blatantly sexualize men or crassly flirt with them, in awkward situations where there may be a power dynamic, without it raising any eyebrows at all. Fatalities in the work place isn't too surprising. It seems there are far more men working the more dangerous jobs. The family court system is something that really bothers me with its biased and hits a little clo…

How do terms like gender and ally come from fem theory ? And toxic masculinity is a term that actually originates from a men's movement in the 80s, but does seem to reflect something different now..

I'm not sure I agree. I think it more stems from a lot of women thinking they are far more progressive than they actually are. I think a lot of women hold on to pretty old school ideas of gender roles, even if they like to pretend that isn't the case.

Hahah I did end up clicking the other links to confirm they would be like the first, but I did immediately write most of them off to be extreme incel type group threads, and not what I have seen most MRM to be representing. Radical feminism is horrifying 😅 The only one that interested me on a real level was the not belonging in a certain space, because that was a real initial concern of mine before joining this sub.

On an institutional level , at least where I am from, you are completely right that most if not all systems lean or favor women. We have not only fought for equality, but when we recieved it we continued to fight and look for more battles. And the more I learn about the rates of sexual crimes against men, the less it feels like a solitary battle. I understand that crimes of that nature leave a long lasting effect and mistrust , and I would be lying if I said that for a while I did not struggle w…

I've heard female friends complain about how closed off their partners off emotionally , and then later disparage them for being weak or in need of stepping up or manning up when they do voice their feelings or dare to show them.

Oh wow thank you so much ! Some of these topics are ones I've already taken a pretty heavy interest in . What sort of started this for me was reading an article about a man in my area who committed suicide after pleading to get help funding his men's abuse safe house that he ran on his own dime, and once again being turned down. After being forced to close the doors and putting the home for sale he ended his life. It shook me that these types of resources are not deemed crucial and basic . I do …

Have any of you been pressured into showing more feeling, or opening up/ being more vulnerable with a partner, and had that backfire on you ?
