As /u/modkillafirefux pointed out, in a chan setting the only thing that you have is the contents of your post. Unlike places like Reddit, you have no identity to protect and you don't gain any internet fame from posting. When someone goes out of their way to post a multi paragraph topic, it generally has some truth to it.
