1	Umbilical hernia from lifting Wanted to say thanks for this info. Lots of good stuff I stumbled across. I understand the mesh placement in the pre-peritoneal space but I wasn’t sure what is meant by closing the defect over the mesh? I went to a surgical consult recently for a small 1cm umbilical hernia and he mentioned using a small mesh that seems a lot smaller than I anticipated (looked to be a 2-3” diameter circular mesh patch).
