People want to feel that their partner is attracted to them. Full stop. I have no doubt that I am NOT "the most attractive woman in the entire world" to my boyfriend but I want him to find me beautiful and attractive regardless. Granted, we got together in mid 30s so we already had some flab on each of us. I tell him often how handsome he is and enjoy initiating sex and I mean that - when you truly love and respect someone, your perception of their physicality is impacted by that. What makes our…

I agree with this! My boyfriend and I do what your wife and you did. It works for us. For me, it's important to split costs. Not all women feel the same way and not all guys do either. I've been out on dates with a few guys who were VERY unhappy that I wanted to split the cost. Everyone has different feelings on this. Find someone who matches yours.

I'd really like to see it; let's see if OP posts or cites it. It's quite the bold claim that roughly half of the human population has a weakened immune system due to the makeup of their sex hormones.

Uhm, body aches, fatigue, and general malaise also occur for women when they get sick from the same viruses. That is not gender-specific. I'd like to see this research on testosterone weakening the immune system that you're speaking of.

Why do we have to "convince" them? It seems wrong to, IMO, when things are clearly heading in the wrong direction in this country. We need a major shift or correction in our society, not more babies. Those can come later when things are "reset" to something closer to a healthy society.

I'm not the person you're originally talking to but I did see in your flair that you're diagnosed ASD. I'm assuming that is correct? I'm not saying that you are wrong here but is it possible that your neurodivergence allows you to "switch" based on who you're with or what you're doing? We all do that to some degree but maybe you take it a step further? I'm asking you to consider - who are you "in the dark", when you're alone with yourself and no one or anything else? Likes/dislikes? Biases?

I think it's a little more than that (referring to "game"). It also involves being a good conversationalist and putting the other person at ease. This is something that can be done even with supar posture, eye contact, and display of social status. This is also why you see many average guys with girlfriends and not all of them are sycophantic with them.

I agree with this. I dated this guy for a short time who really was a genuine catch (good looking/attractive in my eyes, made a lot of money, educated, dressed well, etc.). We had good chemistry too. However, I couldn't progress with him because I felt like he never listened to me - he'd talk over me a lot - and I witnessed him doing something to someone else (long story) that made me question his sense of morality. None of that negates the fact that he was a great catch in most other ways. He j…

Yeah, that makes sense to me. This idea that 90% of men don't care/will tolerate every other relationship part JUST for regular access to sex is kind of bonkers. It makes men sound like emotionless beings who are unable of true connection and companionship.

I'm sorry, it wasn't my intention to hit you with platitudes or anything. I used to hate that sentiment too, for what it is worth. I was single for some time before I met my boyfriend and I've never met someone that aligned with me as well as he does. However, now I feel differently about that sentiment because I see now how damn lucky I got - I was so close to not meeting him at all and that boggles my mind. Looks matter, but to a point. My ex bf is married now to a lovely women and he has neve…

I see you're 28 from your flair - I'm sure that age definitely contributes some there, 100%. That was my experience when I did online dating in my 20s as well. Time has a way of mellowing folks out. Also, I'm not sure where you live but that definitely contributes as well. I have friends who live in NYC and they tell me that it is AWFUL to date there, lots of superficiality. Even if "most" women are into that nonsense, it is never "all". At the end of the day, it only takes 1. I can't imagine ha…

I hope he sees this. I don't understand the whole "looks and money maxxing". Not all women are into that. My boyfriend's dream life is the same as this guy's and I'm encouraging him to pursue it someday (FIRE). We both value a more simple life and we found each, thank goodness.

Red pillers talk about women as inferior beings to men, not "of value" beyond a sex hole/baby vessel, and a number of them do not support women's voting rights, property rights, etc. Remind me again why I would have sympathy for anyone who considers me to be inferior and not deserving of the same rights?

There has to be a path for redemption. So many young guys get sucked in. My heart hurts for them. I'll do my part by accepting those who say they they want to change and are sorry for getting sucked in. We all make mistakes when we are young so I can give them grace.

Belief doesn't = truth. I can't make this up because I live with one - I watched her grow up and I've seen her struggle. Her speech is still wonky. She had this diagnosis since the 90s and she has been tested for intellectual disability, there is none. I got in trouble when I was a kid for beating the snot out of another girl who called her "retarded" to her face. I've met other women who had the same upbringing and still struggle to this day. Just like men who have it! I understand that you hav…

Please read what I said - there are women who were diagnosed back in the 90s before it was widely known at the time, women who have ongoing speech and comprehension difficulties because of this. They are deserving of care, understanding, and recognition just as autistic men. Being autistic is not a "license to be an asshole" for anyone.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/04/26 11:24 AM

So the female children who develop the same neurological issues early on (delayed speech, sensory issues, comprehension difficulties) as male children...how is that not autism? What is that then? This isn't a hypothetical, by the way. I have a couple women like this who are close to me in real life and still have these struggles lifelong, diagnosed back in the 90s.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/04/26 11:08 AM

I'm in my mid 30s and I'll be damned if I'm dating a mid 20s guy, yuck, way too young. I'll take the short guy. I've dated a guy 4 inches shorter than me for a couple years and he was delightful. I don't think I'd marry any guy at this point. Seems like a fool's errand. I'd like to live with my partner someday but don't really want to get married.

Nice try, but there are women out there who don't have anything against short men! Surprising, I know! One of my long term boyfriends was over 4'' shorter than me... 😅 He was funny as hell though and didn't internalize it as a bad thing, which was one of the things I liked about him and tried to emulate in myself as well. You don't have to be attractive to tons of people (I know I'm sure as hell not), all it takes is one weirdo who matches your weird, speaking for myself as well.

You realize that women can be autistic as well or maybe have autistic friends? It's not like autism is a horrible thing for a number of women. You're right re: detecting autism from far away. It's like that for me; I'm just not repelled by it.

If you don't want to date women who do OF and put a lot into their looks to look hot when they go out, then don't. Not that difficult. There are a lot of average-looking women who don't do thirst traps, OF, or other things. However, it sounds like you may not be into these women or even know that they exist.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/04/26 03:09 PM

I know this may surprise you but I ask that you hear me out. You may want to be sitting down for this one. Women are not a hivemind. We do not have all the same behaviors, beliefs, values, and experiences. We are not one consciousness. This is not like the show "Pluribus". Women are asking not to be objectified and you're looking at OF women and say "well, these women are objectifying themselves so these women asking not to be objectified are hypocrites."

No, some of us know what the "average man" is, as you describe. But some of us want something different, in accordance with what we offer. I am a high earning, overweight woman who enjoys a number of hobbies and has a good sense of humor and am a great conversationalist. I expect that from whoever I'm with. I would not expect more than what I myself can offer.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/04/26 08:08 PM

I dislike wedding traditions and all the expectations and nonsense of the entire industry are just more reasons for me to avoid marriage. A lot of the old ones (women taking husband name, the "giving away" of the bride, etc) are rooted in a time when women didn't have rights and marriage was not just a joining but a transfer of property, from father to husband. Yuck. I'd like to have a lifetime partnership with my boyfriend but would prefer to do that with a wedding. I'd rather go to a courthous…

I mean, I'm not disagreeing with you - it is harder for men to get sex, that was the point of my example! I think the availability of ENM may differ depending on location and age. All I can say is that where I live, there were a lot of ENM men out there and were successful in the sense that they had at least 1 partner or more (going by what was reported to me/on profile). It's reasonable to say that it's likely a lot easier there for women as well to get into that set up. I don't like ENM person…

I made no mention of either side having it easier or harder but I do agree with you, if the goal of relationship is to just have one (quality doesn't matter), then yes, it's easier as a woman. I'm woefully average (and put little effort into my appearance) but I could go out to a bar tonight and find some male specimen to take home. I think it's difficult to find a true connection with someone worthwhile for BOTH sexes, but again, if the goal is simply finding someone/getting your dick wet, then…

Yes, they would have to be okay with it if they are in a monogamous relationship. If a guy doesn't like that, then he shouldn't be in a monogamous relationship or maybe he needs to talk to his partner about being able to sleep with other people or having a "free pass", or whatever. I do expect my partner to be a man of his word. He agreed to a monogamous relationship and sexual exclusivity with me so I expect him to keep that. I don't care if he looks at porn sometimes or finds other women attra…

What solidified my position on circumcision was going through school to work in the healthcare field. I was a student and helped with 3 of them. My only job was to dip my gloved finger in sugar water and to let the kiddo suck on it for comfort. Spoiler: it didn't work very well. Lots of screaming. The parents were never in the room to see it. Makes me wonder how many would be in support if they saw the actual process. I don't use this term often but it was barbaric.

OP, you're assuming that the only reason a man would get with and stay with a womam is her attractiveness. This may sound like a stretch so stay with me but...is it possible for a man to like other things about the woman that make it worth it to be in a relationship with her? 🤔

So...what's your point? That men are justified in cheating or walking out of relationships because iTS biOLoGy? Does my boyfriend find younger women (he's my age) attractive? Probably. But relationships are choices. You don't have to follow your dick like a compass. At the end of the day, he loves me, he's attracted to me, and he continues to commit to our relationship. We enjoy each other's company and we have fun. We support each other when things get rough. I consider him to be my best friend…

Circumcision should not be done on babies. If a man turns 18 and decides he wants to pay to have it done on himself, that's his choice. But men need to be able to have a choice.

I'm a neurotypical woman and my partner (male) is on the spectrum (high functioning). I have a LOT of experience with autistic folks through family and friends so it's quite "normal" for me. I've been with a couple guys on the spectrum and these have been more satisfying relationships for me overall.

Oh yay, I can do anecdotal evidence too! I have changed my own oil, installed a new head unit, wired my house with ethernet along (not in) HVAC ducts, changed my tire, and added my own insulation in some of the walls. All without help. So I guess that negates your sister's experience! 😅

I've struggled at times with the idea that "no one would have liked me back then." I was shy, weird, and kept to myself. In my 20s, I ate my feelings until I was really fat. That was my lowest point. After medical help and therapy, I slimmed down over 100+ lb. Guys came out of the woodwork but I didn't bite because I was convinced they wouldn't have gone for me when I was fat. Same. I'm from a wealthier background and can't/won't date men who have grown up in the same socio bracket. The vast majority are manchildren, whiny and materialistic, and I can't stand that.

Uhm, those aren't "kid" things or "kid" behavior. To me, a manchild is a man who is very immature, which I define NOT by hobbies or interests but things such as: not taking responsibility, refusing to clean up after himself, having tantrums when things don't go his way, and relying heavily on his parents in ways that I think he should be more self sufficient in.

I agree, neither should be expectations. I've never dressed up for a first date, sets a high standard that I don't want to follow moving forward. My feeling is if you look plain at baseline, then it takes relatively little to actually look better.

Haha, yeah, you're preaching to the choir here 😅 I agree with all that you've said. It is quite common for both men and women to give up that whimsical part of themselves under the guise of "being an adult". It's a shame and yes, it's unhealthy. As long as one meets their obligations and responsibilities, it shouldn't be an issue. I think this is a big draw towards having children as well. It gives the parents an "out" to be playful and whimsical again without judgment. The truth is that if you'…

If you want more gender equity, then you have to throw out chivalry. I reject the notion that men are supposed to be "providers", at least for me, and would prefer to be seen and treated as an equal. That means, for me, no "perks" of being a woman, like expecting the guy to pay (you take turns or split), chairs pulled out, doors held, etc. I split on the first date. If we both work, then why can't we both pay? I am in the "no makeup" gang here though 😂

What do you mean "put her in her place"? Sounds ominous. Many men HATE it when a woman out-earns them. I ran into this a fair bit when I was dating and it wasn't something I brought up - they did and then stewed about the answer I gave to the question(s) they asked. There is a sect of men (not all, of course) that genuinely do get annoyed when a woman has more than them in terms of finances, career, etc.

I smiled big (not fake, I genuinely was flattered) and thanked him for having the guts to approach me randomly and and that I was taking it as a massive compliment and that I wished him the best, that I'm sure he will find someone special. I meet a lot of different folks through my work (healthcare) and I noticed (even pre "loneliness epidemic" talk, this was pre covid even) a lot of single-but-not-looking women. Back when I was single (but looking!), I came across this same phenomenon when I did speed dating in my area - they had to beg women to show up but there were so. many. men. According to Stoicism, living a virtuous life is a reward all of its own. It sounds as though you were expecting something in return, for people to be like you, and that's the issue there. Doing the right thing, even for someone who is a POS, can still feel good once you rid yourself of all those expectations. Yes, many/most people are shitty but YOU don't have to be. Yep, work on attracting what you want from others. Nerdy guys tend to like nerdy girls. I've always been inclined that way so I just leaned into it more, which in turn has made me happier, dating aside. I also highly value emotional intelligence and introspection so I have done some serious work on myself over the years. If I wanted a fit, in shape dude, I'd spend more time in the gym. If I wanted someone with more traditional values, then I'd need to have more traditional values.

I mean, I'm not arguing with the OP, I agree that men are not as concerned. Seems to be for a number of reasons: less societal pressure to find a "provider" and most men can't afford to be picky. There are more men looking for relationships than women looking for them. Men are casting far and wide and hoping for bites, any bites, and they aren't going to be picky. For me, it boils down to equity within a relationship. I know that most men don't care about that (in fact, many prefer a woman who m…

Glad I left, I am in a well matched relationship now. I am not bored like I was previously. EDIT: why the downvotes? A woman can't want a partner who is equal to her? Lol.

That's a huge generalization to make. Yes, I've met women who don't like sex but I'm not sure where you can make such a blanket statement. Now if you want to talk about hormones, what about ovulation? Many women get really horny during that time and crave sex with their partners. Low drive is not an inherently female thing. Makes me wonder if there is something medically going on or maybe she's not into him for whatever reason.

I think it mattered more when a man was the sole breadwinner. Now, both parents have to work. That's not feminism's fault, blame rising costs, stagnant wages, and stark wealth inequality over time. Problem is that a lot of men are raised with that "provider" mindset and I don't think it sets them up for success nowadays with relationships.

If you are a jerk, then that will work on women who enjoy jerks and being talked down to. You have to wonder what that says about the women that this works on. Maybe you care, maybe you don't. Just something to think about. As long as you are okay with that, then sure, jerk away.

That's fair, and thank you for answering me! I largely agree. I personally see nothing wrong with the housewife option but without proper supports, it's very financially risky for the woman. I'm glad that I focused on financial independence.

Exactly, those days are gone so why would anyone get married at this point? It seems like a raw deal. Yet, I see a lot of men posting online bemoaning the decline of the homewife, etc. So why are many men demanding that women get married, have babies, and return to the home without protection should he decide to step out later? Is that they are ignorant to this or that they really don't give a shit about what happens to the women they may eventually leave? Are all "girl bosses" promiscuous? The …

INFO: Do you believe that women should prioritize their careers and financial independence from partners? Because if you believe what you are saying, why should any woman prioritize marriage and child rearing if it means almost certain destitution later in life when the husband leaves?

I don't know, with the help of my therapist (yes, I'm aware that this is anecdotal evidence), I was able to face some raw, shitty truths about myself and as a result, improve as a person and also my own life. Now, I know that not all therapists are like that but mine certainly was and I'm better off for it. I work in MH myself (although on the medication side) and I've personally seen a lot of good therapists but also a lot of bad, enabling ones. I do agree with the elimination of victim culture…

Why not circumvent this entire mess by just going after women who have actually done the self introspection and internal work to be good partners and humans overall? Normalize therapy and raw, difficult growth. If more men demanded this from women and were uncompromising, perhaps things would change.

I think it goes both ways and there is a large lack of connection going on both sides. What I see is that online dating is horrific for both (in different ways, I'm aware that women get more matches, that doesn't mean it's easy) and that a lot of men and women have been burned by this medium. What happens is a stalemate. No one wants to connect and be vulnerable until they know it is "safe". Both sides feel unappreciated. I think acknowledging this goes a long way and showing genuine interest in…

I feel like a coffee date as a first meet is a good idea. It's low stakes and it gives you BOTH a chance to see if there is potential for another date. My first meet-up with my boyfriend was for coffee (we each paid) and then we went for sit-down sushi at our next date.

Nah, makes sense! You should be what you want to attract and you're fit so that's fine. There are a lot of fat guys though who only want a fit woman and vice versa and that I take issue with.

I mean, people (women and men) put on airs and personas online or in public (ie at work) that are not necessarily reflective of what they want long term. What you're seeing online (dating profiles, maybe?) or from what you hear at your workplace may not truly reflect reality. If I had to extrapolate, from what I remember from dating sites, I'd say that most men fish, have lots of friends, and are great with kids and since I saw very few profiles with video games mentioned, I can only assume that…

Yes, I think that's incredibly sad and it just underscores how we are failing as a society. I truly feel bad for men, I do. From what I've seen, I agree with you on men being raised with "women are wonderful", although it's still harmful because women should not be on a pedestal and it sets up men for failure. No love or true vulnerability, which is what I believe is desired by both sides, is possible when women are taught to fear and dislike men and men are taught to put women on a pedestal lik…

Do you feel that we as a society have largely failed with how both men and women are raised? I wonder about men and women teach and reinforce age old, harmful messages for young boys and girls that perpetuate problematic patterns and sow distrust. I cannot speak for how men were raised but as a woman, I can tell you that I got a lot of "be careful with men, they can hurt you" messages from a young age, from other women, even those in intact marriage. There is early programming to keep yourself s…

Well, I suppose one could define it as caring deeply about someone to the point that you consider their needs to be at/almost the same level as your own. What you describe sounds very tragic to me and if I truly believed that, I wouldn't want to be in a relationship at all. Do you feel that men perceive their partners in a similar way?

Genuinely curious here: do you believe that women are not capable of loving their partner?

Men, like women, are not homogeneous. Even if "most" don't care about those things, there are those that do. All it takes is finding one of them while also making sure that your goals align with what you are focusing on in your life. I am thinner, more successful, have better hobbies, have more assets (house, etc.), and in a better mental state compared to my 20s. No, not all men liked that and I was told a couple times that a guy would feel inadequate with me. Once I began purposefully dating "…

Yes, thank you for mentioning this. It's one of the biggest reasons why I won't have kids. Can't tell your kid to go outside and play without getting the cops sent to your door. Hard pass.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/01/26 07:14 AM

I mean, I don't see why a relationship couldn't be that way as well. My boyfriend and I do tons of low cost activities that usually involve one of us going to the others' place and usually me making food.

I think if she maybe asked for constructive criticism, she would have been more likely to get it. I agree with the previous poster: men tend to default to finding solutions and women tend to default to emotional support. Neither is wrong. I think it's kind of silly that OP got butthurt enough over this to post about it though because it's not his "default". A good solution is this: when someone approaches you with complaints ask "do you want advice or do you want to vent?" Both are valid.
