Classic crab-bucket mentality. It's fine when you're not better than whoever is making those comments. Whenever they feel threatened or feel like you're surpassing them they will try to bring you back down

This is what happened. In OP's mind, the fact that he gave 0 fucks, pounded his drink and gave a few half-ass sentences to her on the way out to the door equals no approach. But in her eyes, that was just as much as an approach as beta bob standing in the corner stammering over himself for 10 mins trying to figure out how to say hello. Obviously with different outcomes, but OP approached nonetheless.
