Yup! Capitalism only survives by taking things without paying for them. Taking women's domestic labor, cutting down entire forests, contaminating waterways, and on and on. They call it externalities. Economists specifically came up for word for all the resources that capitalist system takes / destroys without actually paying for in any way.

Right? Just because it will be hard to build a egalitarian society free of sexism doesn't mean we should give up and just "accept" how messed up our culture is.

Preach! Capitalism has always been a pyramid scam. It needs undervalued woman pumping out future wage-slaves to fill the new bottom layer.

Right? BPAs and microplastics in umbilical cord blood? We're born contaminated with pollution now!

Ulg, gross. I hate that you're so right! That system perpetuates itself growing like a cancer.

I wish economic-marriage was a thing. People should be able to set up spouse-equivalent legal and financial protections with a trusted friend regardless of sexual orientation. ... Huh, maybe we can develop housing co-ops that let ladies (especially the single/widowed older ladies) form legal economic units.

Honestly, I think getting sterilized (if/when you're doing having kids) so we don't risk unwanted pregnancy is a pretty important step. Reduced access to birth control and a likely increase in reproductive coercion (in all it's horrible forms) seem very likely in the next few decades for many countries. :'(

I fear you're not wrong. All the more reason for folks who want to be CF to fight to get sterilized as soon as possible.

Trades are having a HUGE crunch. My sister is a carpenter and has not wanted for (well paid, with benefits) work for a minute since getting her red seal (we're in Canada, IDK what the US equivalent to that is, sorry). Sadly she has to deal with an insane number of LVM. :(

I'm guessing there's a good 90% chance she's just generally polite/friendly and he's decided that means she's into him.

Thank you! I really needed this reminder today, I've been trying to be there for a friend who honestly is toxic AF. Honestly she needs to figure out how to cope on her own for a while.

Completely true. Our economic system is an intergenerational pyramid scheme that requires ever increasing layers of wage slaves to fill out the new bottom rung and work themselves to death trying to move up a level or two. That can't work forever even if they do manage to keep most woman as broodmares because the planet itself is reaching it's biological limits. One way or another the pyramid is going to collapse. Don't manufacture more cannon fodder for the system, don't sell your body/labour t…

Yeah! I try not to read too much into people's behavior from little clips (I have no idea what this couple acts like the rest of the time) but he was not looking excited/honored to be offered something that special. It's obviously really meaningful to her.

The original ring was very pretty and unique, the new one is super generic and boring. To each their own and all, but I hope no one else in the family wanted grandma's ring.

I'm so sorry that happened to you! Those "protestors" should be outside courthouses demanding tougher sentences for domestic abusers instead if they actually cared about mothers and children.

A few weeks ago there was an article published in our local paper about how they anticipated the university enrollment for full term 2020 (you know that one that's already over) would go down. News flash, It actually went up. How on Earth anyone got published with a prediction that was not only out of date but completely wrong is beyond me. :/

Thank you!! Many of my family members are / have adopted and it is just as valid a way of forming a family as any other. I'm so sick of hypocritical pro-lifers telling me that people aren't my "real family" because of adoption.

Exactly! Those kinds of statements about how we need to respect women because there are our wives and mothers etc, is actually just saying we need to value these people as extensions of men that they belong to. :/
