Flour Water Salt and Yeast is my holy grail bread cookbook! I'm a huge fan of extremely beautiful cookbooks that can double as coffee table books. So if any of you ladies have recommendations, send them my way!

Last week was my first bridal shower and it was really nice. All of the ladies wrote me letters with marriage advice and it was very touching. So my question is about gifts. My fiance and I already live together, and I'm not sure what to do about the gifts I received (other than get the thank you notes out right away!) . Do you start using them right away or wait until after the wedding?

Then go for the big wedding girl! Happy planning! :)

First off, congratulations on your upcoming nuptials! :) If you can afford it/not go into any form of credit card or loan debt, and your fiance and both of your families are on board, go for it! You and your fiance have a kick butt party! It is perfectly alright to spend if the rest of your financial affairs are in order. That being said, only throw a party if it's within your means. I would recommend setting a "ball park" budget. Doesn't have to be too tightly detailed, just something that you …

I always liked this chart. Pretty accurate. For the amount of effort, it really depends on what your baseline is. If a woman is naturally thin and lean, she won't have to spend as much time as someone who has a lot of weight to lose. However, he mentions that you can't control butt size...pretty sure r/strongcurves would disagree with that. Also, I'm confused as to why quality of clothes isn't controllable? I think the aspect "nakedness" would be a characteristic that would vary depending on rel…

Is there something else going on in your relationship that is missing from your post that would lead him to give an ultimatum? Are you unloading all of your stress from work on him? Is the SAHM thing something you have discussed in the past or is this out of the blue?

First off, good that it's an LLC. That protects everyone involved. I've seen so many people lose their 401k over a bad business persuit. Hmmm. I wonder if some of his stress is over money too. Do you guys have a plan of how you approach finances together? Do you set goals together? I could see he would be nervous if you're in a ton of debt, have a big mortgage, only $2k in an emergency fund, and no college funds for the kiddos. Especially if he's a FIRE guy (financial independence/retire early).…

Yikes. That is definitely a fight. You mention that he's wanting to pinch pennies, is this because he is just a frugal person or is the family bank account his business' bank account? If you want to get technical, is he operating it as a sole proprietarship or did he create an LLC?

Echoing u/teaandtalk about the love languages. While you may feel like you're supporting him, you may be not on the same page for communicating support. In fact, the same thing might be happening to you and he's trying to support you the best he can and doesn't think you care because he speaks a different love language than you. OP, as a fellow woman in a crazy job (but three cheers for high pay!) it can be difficult to delegate things out to other people. You can be there a 100% supportive of y…

I just don't understand how she can still be with him after he cheated on her. It's doesn't seem like she views him too highly either, so why be in the relationship at that point?

Really silly question...my parents and I went overboard while picking strawberries this weekend. 27 lbs overboard! Vacation for them is over and they took a few pounds, but I'm still left with so many strawberries! Any suggestions for recipes other than jam, shortcakes, and freezing? I'm already planning on bringing a big Tupperware of them in for a treat at work tomorrow. Thanks!

"I have a secret. Scratch that, it’s not really a secret. It’s something I regularly lie about to the one person in the world I share more or less everything with." Sounds like that is a really healthy approach to a relationship and will bring long term happiness. /s But it looks like their relationship was a bit of a dumpster fire, aside from the finance thing because of the cheating. I'd bet money thing isn't the only thing they're both lying about right now. What a disaster! I can't believe s…

She's a woman who had knitting as her main hobby, you can only have so many blankets around the house! Her and my uncle also have grandchildren who live about 6 hours away that they see twice a month. She does a lot in the car when he drives. Her big thing is the quilting though. We live in the Midwest and quilts are still given frequently as nice gifts for baptisms, first communions, weddings, and wedding anniversaries. She also has a sizable demand for T-shirt quilts for high school graduates.…

I have another suggestion that blends working from home/outside the home! If you love sewing, not only is etsy a great place to sell, but many farmers markets have special slots for people who have non-food goods. My aunt does this with her quilts and knitting. Because she's developed a bit of a following, during the winter time she does custom pieces for customers. I have another close friend who makes soaps and other natural skin care products part time and enjoys that very much too.

That's really cool and must be kind of fun given the markets right now! What resources did you use to learn about it?

Even though it's mainly aimed towards women, self-care is important for men too! Does he have any hobbies that could help him unwind? Since he likes watching cable news (I'm going to go with the assumption that you mean politic-y stuff), you could get a newspaper subscription as additional option for him. I can't really comment on more liberal media if that's what floats your boat, but there are some really great books (political and non-political) out there written by some conservative folk. SO…

My SO works in a similar environment to your husband, and to an extent so do I. We would get super snappy at each other and get into really heated debates about all sorts of stuff back in the day. I'll admit it still happens (HHH relationship dynamic), but we both understand that we don't have a ton of time for relaxing and it's not worth being worked up the entire evening. We have found that decompression time is essential for keeping us both sane. The first hour of being home, I leave him alon…

I get that people get pushback all the time for having RPW views. It happens to me all the time! Scandalous though? Change a few words in the tweet to something about fat acceptance or something along those lines and it sounds like SWJ playing the victim card. We're better than that. Leave the overexaggeration to the feminist crowd. It's unfortunate that she went that route in the tweet...but then again, Twitter is Twitter

I'm traveling a lot for work and my fiance is away on business this week, so I threw a bunch of chicken breasts on the grill Sunday night. Also made quinoa and lentil blend in the rice cooker and chopped a bunch of veggies. This week has been chicken salads and chicken grain bowls (chicken with quinoa blend and kale). Chopped veggies as snacks. :) It's also strawberry season, so I went picking on Saturday, cleaned them, and I'm now enjoying the harvest!
