So proud of you! This is hard to do.

Get a new phone number. Don't reply to these text messages in the meantime. He's a waste of time. I've dated some losers myself, so I am certainly not judging you. I have the same thoughts about being ugly, alone. It happens. TV is not a hobby but I've started to notice that throwing on an interesting show in the background while I catch up on emails helps my mind stay quiet. Also, do you exercise regularly? When I get physically tired my mind is too drained to start with the self-hate chatter.

This comment ^ is the answer. I've offered this LVM-masquerading-as-a-HVM way too much. The moment you discovered he lied, you should've left. And the fact that his response was to beat himself up about out loud means he's deflecting from his shady behavior instead of taking responsibility for it. You really didn't lose anything of value here.

And trust me. These open relationship bastards juggle women with terrible self worth to affirm themselves. Throw the whole man away if he has ever, for one moment, in his entire life, had an open arrangement. He won’t think you’re cool and chill if you agree to it. All of the women in his rotation are losers to him and he’s realized that they’re so pitiful that they will share a man. It’s a dead end for all women.

Men who get into "open relationships".

I like the strategy of just calmly changing the subject. I remember from "Why Men Love Bitches" that one of Sherry's dates went on and on about an ex and she calmly responded when he was finished speaking by asking what his workload was like at the office that week. You can try to look purposefully bored while they complain about teachers or try to flirt. Even break eye contact and look around a little bit. Buy a watch and look at it. Then when they're done, refer to any papers they've brought w…

Thanks for the good thoughts. Good luck to you. I just wanted to mention that I hadn't heard a single thing from him since Friday evening when I decline his "plans tonight" message. I messaged him an hour ago to say hello and he told me that he was out of town spending the weekend helping his ex-girlfriend move. Eww. I blocked him right away. You're having tons of breakup sex all weekend and doing manual labor for some chick. No wonder you weren't texting me...I didn't even cross your mind. No d…

I think I was a little confused about whether or not I wanted to date, but I agree that I should sit tight a bit longer. It's just COVID fatigue that made my thoughts a little weird. Thanks for your input.

I think he's a dud. We've been chatting since last week and he's asked me on Sunday night if I had plan on Monday night. I declined. Then he ask me on Tuesday morning if I had plans on Tuesday night. I said I did. Then he asked me on Friday afternoon if I had plans on Friday night and I already had plans. He has not contacted me at all this whole entire weekend. So I think you are correct, pandemic or not pandemic, he's a block and delete. Thanks for your input. I didn't consider that angle abou…

You are right. Now's just not the time for me. It's just COVID fatigue, especially in the US. I've been socially distancing and haven't seen close friends since March and I guess I kinda got antsy. Thanks for your reply.

Does anyone have any quarantine dating advice? I live in the US and COVID is just a mess...still. I met someone on an app and we've been talking. I am personally taking social distancing and quarantine seriously, but it doesn't seem like he is. I am not going to physically meet up with someone until we are a few months into a widely- available vaccine. He's tried to make plans with me but they've been last minute. I've declined them all, but I am just not sure how to deal with this situation. Th…

I think it all depends. I do think people in a relationships can feel a little tired and emotionally tapped out and it can be a good idea for them to communicate that they can't call because they're too busy. But it's all about the presentation: "Hey babe, I am so sorry, it's a stressful week and I can't call you today. Can we talk tomorrow evening after work?" It's okay for him to not want to talk but if he tries to reschedule because he cares that you need him, then I think that's good. vs. Hi…

Just wanted to thank you for this comment. I will start using this strategy myself because I have a huge problem with ruminating and obsessing. I falsely believe that if I think about something enough, I can find a solution but I only drive myself crazy.

It's going to be really hard for the next few days. I don't know you or how you deal with things, but I have some anxious, depressive tendencies myself so here are some recommendations based on what's helped me: -Do not drink, binge eat or take drugs. Don't do anything to numb your pain -if talking helps you, get in touch with a friend or a therapist. If you don't have that, you can call a hotline for relationships/depression. They exist for a reason -List three things to do that calm you down. …

I am in the same exact boat as you. I decided to end a "situationship" for the exact reasons you listed. I feel so much better because I didn't spend my time and energy engaging in a dynamic where I felt like I kept "losing" over and over. I wanted to be this guy's girlfriend (pickmeisha days) but he was adamant about being single. I realized that hanging around someone who subtly showed me I wasn't worth what I wanted and thought I deserved (a relationship with him) was needling away at my self…

I agree with all of the other commenters recommending that you read the handbook and do not spend time trying to figure out why this guy is acting this way. I have been in your situation before and I just very recently stopped engaging with people who don't give me what I want. I don't feel so bad about myself anymore. The Handbook will help you with this, but in the future: Decide what you want. FDS does not endorse FWB but make it clear in your own mind if you want a FWB or a relationship. Cre…
