I think I understand. Maybe what I have to say will be helpful? I’m a trans man. I grew up in a very “feminist” family. I say “feminist” in quotations because while my mom told me over and over again that men are gross and dangerous, that I shouldn’t want to be a boy, and that masculinity was inherently predatory, both of my parents had very problematic views of gender. My mom was constantly criticizing my body once I hit puberty, as time went on my dad I think started falling for alt-right kind…

Yeah that seems fair judgement of him as a human being. As a counselor though… I’m not sure it would be worth the money to keep seeing him if you feel like you have to educate him.

I mean, if he doesn’t fully grasp what the patriarchy or the red pill are, and yet parades around acting like he does while spreading misinformation… how is he not an idiot?

Even if a girl is attracted to your abs then I’m sure she’d still be put off by your “well well well TECHNICALLY I’m RIGHT” attitude, lmao

Not gonna lie dude, this sounds like some sort of trauma response. Has someone betraying your trust in a romantic relationship happened to you before? Did your parents hate each other? Do you know a lot of people who have been cheated on? A history of betrayal in friendships, even? Sounds like you’ve witnessed or been a part of something that would drill this insecurity into your head beyond just hanging out in redpill spaces… not that I know you so I could certainly be off base.

Yeah, if you get dumped for being emotionally vulnerable with your partner… you are the one dodging a bullet. I try to think about it as something I shouldn’t be afraid of because if it happens, it’s just a toxic person removing themself from my life.

A lot of psychologists nowadays think that BPD (and other “personality disorders” as well) are actually just very specific manifestations of trauma. With BPD some people think it’s due to lack of close relationships/ attachment problems that manifest as a deep loneliness and fear of abandonment. So in a way you could say that your BPD is related to a lack of relationships with women… but really that’s too specific. It’s probably more like you lack a meaningful relationship with anyone, regardles…

This is like saying because the catholic clergy has a problem with molesting children, all of Christianity is evil. Like yes, there are shitty feminists that hate men but you don’t have to condemn all of feminism because of that. Just condemn the shitty feminists. It’s not hard.

Some people just hate men and don’t care if their language is hurtful. The key words being “some” and also “people,” since I’ve also bizarrely met men who hate men. Don’t concern yourself with these people, it tends to just fuel their distorted view of men in general.

Yeah I’m ftm and therefore have an absolutely puny dick, but none of the partners I have been with post-transition have given a single shit. So I agree that people only use it as an insult because they know it gets under someone’s skin, not because they themselves actually care.

I disagree. In certain circles any sort of masculinity is seen as bad. I’m not saying that this is widespread by any means, to be clear. In my personal experience, I grew up with my mother telling me that all men are evil. For reference, I’m ftm. When I was very young I wanted to hang out with boys, dress as a boy, okay with boy things. And my mom always told me, “no, boys are gross and dangerous. You don’t want to be one.” It has really fucked up my relationship with gender, as though I’m certa…

While I agree that we should just let people do whatever they want with their life, even if that’s just spending all their time working or playing video games, I don’t think that’s the problem here. The problem is that he apparently “thought as soon as he got a girlfriend he would start doing so many things.” Assuming this perception is correct, the guy was basically waiting on a woman to “fix” him, which is pretty messed up. No one should be expecting someone to come along and “fix” them. (Thou…

I got some context from some of your other comments. Someone telling you that they’re interested in you BUT you’re too shy, weird, cold, etc is a giant red flag, regardless of the genders of those involved. If they really liked you as a person, they shouldn’t be trying to manipulate you into being more palatable for them.

My dude, what??? Are you asking him if he is holding himself accountable for being abused? Would you ask this question of a woman who said she dated an abusive man?
/r/ExRedPill05/10/22 03:04 PM

Okay, first off, not every person with BPD is abusive. Second, many psych professionals now believe that BPD is actually caused by trauma, despite being called a personality disorder, so I think that people that suffer from it deserve some compassion (at least up front, if you’re being actively abused by someone with BPD, you don’t owe them shit, get the hell out). However, I do think you’re right that a lot of people can get away with abusing their partners because their social groups never cal…

You’re responding angrily because the shit he is saying is vile, your anger is valid, don’t let him gaslight you out of your feelings. Him insisting that you have a kid despite your own wishes is a GIANT red flag that tells me that he is more interested in reproducing than the well-being of his partner. I understand that you’ve been together for 10 years but that’s not a good reason to continue to stay together. Have you heard of the sunk-cost fallacy? That’s exactly what you seem to have applie…

They literally don’t care if “good” women ostracize them, they already think that anyone who doesn’t live a lavish lifestyle is garbage

Learn to determine who you actually want to be around. You don’t HAVE to be approachable to everyone. If your goal is to make friends and/or find a romantic partner, then putting a bunch of effort into seeming approachable all the time is not the way to go about it. Figure out what kind of people you want to be around and put the most effort into forming bonds with them. Figuring out who you actually like also will probably involve a lot of asking questions about other people, which others often…

I think both of you are kind of right. The crux of the issue is 100% what you stated: it depends on how you’re raised. However, upbringings can be extremely varied. Many men are still raised with a toxic masculine mindset and really do see women as objects. Some men are raised with a brand of feminism that has swapped the black and white “man good woman bad” for “woman good man bad,” essentially raising women up on a pedestal. That kind of upbringing can definitely lead to men like you being hur…

So you very well might benefit from therapy, but I wanted to validate your concerns about it because there ARE very real concerns about therapy. Therapists can be actively harmful, even when they don’t intend to be. For example, without going into too much detail, my childhood therapist told me that I needed to put more effort into loving my parents to get them to stop abusing me. It really messed me up. Granted, you are an adult with more agency over the therapeutic relationship. I think it’s i…

Yeah I don’t think it’s 100% socialization, but it plays a part. I’m a trans man and I used to have pretty masculine autistic presentation as a kid, but it changed to a more feminine presentation as I got older.

No, women just learn to mask their autistic traits better/earlier. I’m many ways this gives them a huge advantage — being able to “pass” as neurotypical is a huge boon to anyone, regardless of gender. However, masking autism in both men and women is harmful because it often leads to severe emotional burnout.

I’m a scientist in biology and autistic myself (though I have no formal training in neuro) and I personally believe that the ratio is 1:1. There is no specific genetic marker associated with autism (although there are multiple alleles that are ASSOCIATED with higher rates of autism) so I don’t think that there is any cause to believe it is actually sex-linked in the way something like muscular dystrophy is. Once again, the diagnostic criteria was literally built around the stereotypical male pre…

“ Sure, but if again the rates of the disability are still heavily skewed towards men why aren't we spending more time with them in a topic that mostly affects them?” I think you misunderstand the problem with autism diagnoses in women. It seems likely that autism is just as common in women as it is in men, but women don’t get diagnosed because the diagnosis was literally built around the male presentation of autism, and that is why women don’t get diagnosed as often. Regarding why you would wan…
