This is the point I think you should have included. This stuff happens very early on when there is no exclusivity discussed (at least in my experience) and tends to be playful. It’s both a way of kind of skirting around the fact that the two of you haven’t made commitments to the relationship, acknowledging that both are in truth free to see others, and also feeling you out as a guy. Lots of women have dealt with toxically jealous dudes so it makes sense that they might want to screen for that e…

I see this stuff as happening early in dating when there has been no discussion of exclusivity and whatnot, which in my mind makes it fair game and playful. If someone did this kind of stuff while we had established that we both after something deeper I may agree with you. But before that, it’s funny, and an opportunity to joke around/grow personally as you learn to navigate the reality that no matter who you date they will see people who are more physically attractive than you.

I even like to take the initiative. I love to say shit like “damn! That’s a handsome dude!” When a legit Adonis walks by us early on in dating. I do it all the time. I think it’s hilarious to see women’s eyes light up and their admiration of me increase as we can both talk about how good looking some random dude is without me showing a hint of jealous. And then we naturally laugh a d joke about it and the comfort level in general increases. Don’t think I’ve had this backfire in anyway

Preach. Took my a while to get this but now at almost 35 I don’t put up with bullshit snd I find that the higher quality women tend to love that. Even after the actual dating has started. I’ve had multiple women comment on how “different” I am then the last guy in terms of not being anxious, need, a pussy, whatever. When In truth I have horrible anxiety from military PTSD and have all sorts of insecurities. I just don’t let that shit through snd have enough self respect that when someone is rude…

This is good stuff and can even be a trap for those of us who have had success. I know in can feel this process happening when I occasionally land a legit 9 (which is essentially a 10 in terms of my excitement level). It can be hard to keep all of my usual confidence, hobbies, goals, and independence on the top of my priorities which will slowly make me less attractive as I’m too available to her and don’t appear to have any meaningful goals that go beyond her. The truth is she’s just attractive…

I’ve always had success at just commenting on the environment (the drink she/I have, the crowd, clothing, the music, random decor, etc.) I just try to start a innocent and friendly conversation. My friend and I used to practice by pointing stuff out to each other so the other person would have to just riff. Like I’d point at a lamp and my buddy would have to just go “that’s an odd lamp, really wide at the botto, looks like a Russian nesting doll, do you think maybe there’s a series of smaller la…
