And Yang Hui's triangle predates both, and then Pingala's formulae predates all of them?? Each of which either knowingly or build upon the same foundation. Seems odd that you would advocate for Pascal naming then... I can probably count on one hand the number of non-contemporary European and western names I know from science at all let alone math which I can not think of any off the top of my head. Why because I care about the knowledge, principles, and concepts not the people that came up with them. In math, this would cripple you. While writing a proof, we call upon theorems that have already been proven. There are many other neutral reasons that things are named the way they are, and to ignore – and even worse, disallow – those reasons is not the way we reach the truth of the situation You are right, I personally think it is a consequence as do experts from this field including professors mention in the article. How is it solely a Western issue when you say that your country does the same thing (using naming conventions that highlight people from your own country)? In my country we use more precise names, with some favoritism pointed to russian literature because of our historical roots. This is equally problematic, as credit should only be given to those who deserve it rather then being based on where those people are from. She claims that math is susceptible to white supremacy and any other belief of that sort. There are theorems I struggle in finding online because our country uses different names for them, or prioritizes the co-writers name as compared to the western block.
