Sure there are many variables. And the study established a link between creatine and DHT, not balding. The connection is that DHT leads to balding. It's very possible that there is a causal link between creatine and DHT levels, as the study indicated. To my knowledge, no studies have been published countering the results of the rugby study, and that was the only study so far to test for impact on DHT. I took that for years before doing accutane. It works pretty well but it’s still just a short term solution. You can use doxycycline as a patch until you grow out of acne and that works for some people. I was a junior in college and still struggled with bad acne so I decided to make the jump to accutane at that point. I've seen his lectures and he doesn't have a firm grasp on those concepts. His archetypal psych stuff is interesting, although he relies pretty heavily on Jung. Also seems to be a big evopsych advocate, which is probably why he's popular here. This sums up a lot of my problems with TRP. Definitely some good advice about self-improvement/sexual strategy on here, but other stuff is just obvious BS. The biggest problem is TRP views women as one-dimensional sexbots completely subject to evolutionary biological determinism. Maybe this works on a macro scale with hookups or a FWB situation, but TRP has virtually nothing to say about healthy LTRs. A good LTR has way too much cultural/interpersonal nuance for TRP to cover.

I personally have never maxed out on neck curls, nor do I think this is necessary/advisable. Hypertrophy/strength standards are going to depend on your build. My advice is to do neck exercises to figure out how strong your neck is, set a higher goal, meet it, and then set a new goal. Your neck will blow up in no time

I’m not really sure how you could do this vertically. Off the top of my head, maybe you could hook the band around something and then do curls with the other end of the band either in your mouth or around your forehead. I’ve never tried this but I suppose it’s worth a shot if you can’t do them horizontally.

I'm not sure any long-term studies have been done. Anecdotally, I've seen zero reports of injuries from people properly doing these exercises. College wrestlers actually perform more dangerous movements like neck-bridges regularly. If anything, the research that exists suggests that neck training likely helps prevent other kinds of sports injuries that would results from a weak neck.

No doubt deadlifts hit your neck, but this is like saying you will get optimal bicep growth from underhand deadlifts because it works your biceps. You must do isolation work if you really want to overload your neck. I think this is a problem for people that have fat necks. A thick, muscular neck will support your other soft tissues much better than an undertrained, fat neck. If you somehow develop sleep apnea (which I think is incredibly unlikely), you can simply stop training your neck and let it atrophy.

This is a fair criticism, but I don't think neck training is any more dangerous than a movement like the deadlift. In fact, deadlifts are probably more dangerous given the increased load and complexity of mechanics required for proper form. If you're really that concerned, you can focus on volume work and still achieve a solid degree of hypertrophy.
