5	A brief, practical guide to overcome neuroticism As a small child my father often gave me what I refer to as the "cardboard box speech" which consisted of doomsaying of how I would end up living on the street in a cardboard box if I didn't toughen up. It left some very deep scars and probably did some damage similar to what you describe.
