In UK 94% of dead doctors were male. This is very interesting, do you have a source?

Welcome home.

All you've done is make a straw man. Yes, nobody denies women worked, of course they did. This post is saying that the most dangerous jobs (which in this case, means underground mining) were for the men and not the women. As a wider point, this post says that men's lives were not as valued as women's lives, not then, or now. What you're saying is true, but besides the point. They were not permitted to go underground, as it was too dangerous.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/05/20 07:53 PM
5

No. They were working there. Women were literally banned from working in mines (in the UK). It fell under the 'Mines and Collieries Act 1842', which forbade women and girls of any age to work underground and introduced a minimum age of ten for boys employed in underground work.

So do I. I've always rejected patriarchy in general, but never been able to articulate why so concisely. If it were changed to acknowledge male disposability, I would be far more on board.

I've derailed the conversation? Are you serious? This is a post that acknowledges male victims of sexual violence. At no point have you done that. In fact you've only done the opposite. To minimise, to distract and now gaslight me. You are derailing. You are exactly what is wrong with the conversation around male victims of violence. Men do not simply 'shrug off' threats or acts of violence. They are not immune, they are not invincible. We are as human as you. It's taken me many years to underst…

I didn't say how men "feel" Yes you did. You clearly stated this 'affects her more than a man', that 'the psychological damage on the woman is higher to put it bluntly', 'a man might not take it so serious', and shockingly even that 'a man can shrug it off'. As a man, I would never dream of telling a woman how she might or might not react to a crime, let alone violent crime, so why is it okay for you to do the opposite? Your entire argument is based on a biological advantage, stating men can't f…

I'm simply explaining how women see these things and how it affects them. That’s fine, thank you for starting a dialogue. But please don’t tell men how they feel about unwanted sexual advances. Especially when it’s to minimise it’s impact. You don’t understand how men feel, in the same way that we don’t understand how women feel.

Yea, the TV Licensing Authority are pretty shit and need reform. This isn’t the BBC, but they are of course still responsible for who they contract to chase payments. Even if you’re listening to BBC radio, this doesn’t require a license. You can also watch All4, ITV Hub, Netflix or any non iPlayer content, without a license fee, as long as it’s not live. I don’t doubt your story about TV License bullies, it happens a lot.
/r/MensRights17/02/20 11:35 AM
2

This. Why is everyone so clueless about the license fee? I get it, some of you don't like it, that's fine. But don't be dishonest.
/r/MensRights17/02/20 11:06 AM

Yeah, apart from it's not getting scrapped. Certainly not before its charter renewal in 2027.

Exactly this. If someone thinks suicide is cowardly or selfish, they clearly have no real experience of it. Certainly not dealing with suicidal thoughts themselves. This sub is so disheartening sometimes.

There were points where I physically wanted to stand up and shout: "JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP" in the cinema. Adam Sandler is an annoying, whiney little shit bag. The rest of your suggestions are top draw.

Uncut Gems was overrated IMO, it was just pure chaos and very stressful, none of the characters had any likability and storyline was confused and mind numbingly repetitive.

‘So apparently’... ‘I think’... ‘it’s quite sexist’... Try not to round off your argument so much mate. You’re making a good point, don’t dilute it.

/r/MensRights26/01/20 12:19 AM

Did you read my comment? No mention of unstable feminists. I mentioned them as an example of broad brush stroke thinking, I’m talking about unhelpful generalisations, in this case about the trans community, made by you. Never mind.
/r/MensRights26/01/20 12:12 AM
0

This is not a widely held view for the trans community, at all, yet your comment paints in broad strokes to insinuate all trans people feel this way and are also all mentally unstable. Similar generalisations are also used by feminists, when talking about men.
/r/MensRights25/01/20 11:49 PM

As men, aren’t we constantly suffering from and condemning generalisations such as this?
/r/MensRights25/01/20 11:32 PM

Women work heavily in schools, where children are basically walking germ factories, as well as within healthcare, which has the same problem. I wonder if that has any impact?

Male mannerisms Yup, to put it lightly. He’s a womaniser and an apex alpha male. The literal embodiment of manliness, and let’s be honest, a bit of a misogynist. Being a man is so central to his character, the idea of Bond being a woman is absolutely insane. It’s utterly moronic.

It’s true and quite worrying. I consider myself left, but can’t deny there’s a new more radical left movement that is exactly as you described. It’s not good enough and annoying as I feel they hijack many of my beliefs and weaken them.

True, but this isn’t the BBC TV License.
/r/MensRights24/12/19 05:28 PM

The License fee goes directly to the BBC, not the Government. And you don't have to pay it if you want to watch non-live, non-BBC broadcasting such as All4 or ITVHub. It also pays for the maintenance of the TV network infrastructure, BBC radio, BBC World Service, BBC Online and in this instance, BBC News.

Are you blind too?
/r/MensRights17/12/19 08:43 PM

I can only comment from a UK perspective, but in primary school (years 1-6) OP is right. You do only have one teacher. These are the most formative years of a child's life and it's also when women dominate within teacher roles the most (85%). I only had 1 male teacher in my first 6 years of school and he only lasted one year before leaving. Granted, in high school and college you have more of a mix, but still the influence is very much with the women.
/r/MensRights28/10/19 01:37 PM

I found some stats. 90% of single parents of women, Office of National Statistics, 2019 (UK) And, Department for Education statistics show 26% of teachers in England are men - accounting for 38% of secondary and 15% of primary school teachers.
/r/MensRights25/10/19 01:33 PM

Ah, okay. I think ‘corrupt’ is a bit of a strong word, but it certainly adds bias. Like I said, I cite the UN largely on its crime stats, which are free of this bias. It’s different sources for different causes. I don’t cite the UN or WEF for gender studies, because of the flawed model they use, as discussed.
/r/MensRights17/10/19 05:04 PM

Yes I’d like to know more about corruption in the UN if you can point me in the right direction?
/r/MensRights17/10/19 04:55 PM

Good job avoiding my question. Can you please now show me an example of the UN using a GGGI model? Also I don’t know why you’re bringing the legal definition of rape into the conversation. I agree it’s sexist and ought to be reformed, but it’s irrelevant to my post. The stats and data from the UN aren’t perfect, but IMO they’re amongst the best we can hope for.

Thankfully I am not your child, and fingers crossed, of no genetic relation to you whatsoever. I am gonna write this is in simple, easy to follow words for you. I am not obsessing over individual components. I am pointing at 1 of 9 major components of the overall score, that is the most relevant to my post. Mate, these aren't my opinions, they are the findings of Newsguard, a source that you cited yourself - ironically to vindicate the Sun and Daily Mail. Yes, the Daily Mail do okay overall, and well in transparency, but if you bothered to look at the breakdown, they do poorly in credibility. Which is what my issue has been since writing this post. I'm not 'ignoring the big-picture', I'm looking at the details, which is good practice, rather than ignorantly speaking in headlines and painting in bro…

Really? The Daily Mail's website was flagged as red earlier this year. As they were found to not maintain a basic level of accuracy or accountability. It was the same deal with Microsoft and their Edge browser, which also warned users to "proceed with caution" when visiting the Daily Mail's site. In fact I've just been on the Daily Mail's site and checked Newsguard, there's a big red cross next to 'Gathers and presents information responsibly', which just proves my point.
/r/MensRights17/10/19 09:23 AM

Left or right doesn't concern me. I actually read both. The issue is the complete lack of factual accuracy, human decency and reputable journalism. I'll share a comment I wrote below. ~ The Sun: hacked into the phones of celebrities and politicians, whilst its sister paper NOTW hacked the phone of a murdered 13-year old girl, Milly Dowler. They lied during the Hillsborough disaster, knowingly producing completely fake information. They publish racist content. Calling migrants "feral" and "cockro…

Yes, no news source is perfect. But they aren't all on the same scale and you can't pretend they are. Are you talking about the World Economic Forum? I've never seen the UN use the GGGI, which I agree is flawed. I'm talking more about their stats on crime, and the data which the UN Office of Drugs and Crime record.
/r/MensRights17/10/19 06:44 AM

It’s not whether I agree or not, I’m talking about their professional practice, or lack of. The papers and news sources I mentioned, at least in the UK, have a horrific history of immoral and illegal activity.
/r/MensRights16/10/19 03:54 PM

I’m thinking more of their practices; hacking phones, mischaracterising, Hillsborough disaster style, gutter press stuff. The Sun and The Guardian are not comparable with this kind of thing.
/r/MensRights16/10/19 03:50 PM

This. I think the best solution is getting as close to the data as possible, before it is misinterpreted to fit a certain agenda.

The ones I usually like to use are large multinational organisations such as the World Health Organisation, the UN, the Office of National Statistic etc or the actual academic studies themselves.

No. The landlady in question, who was concerned about her safety, was the one who suggested I am violent. And you condoned this as ‘fair enough’. Then you continued, suggesting walking past a man in a towel would be ‘weird’ or seen as ‘a come on’, because of your own prejudice. I live with two women, and I do not see them in a towel as anything sexual, or weird or as an invitation or come on, but as an indication of them taking a shower.

My entire life I’ve tried to be an upstanding person. I’m well raised and educated, am a successful business owner who supports the community. I have no criminal record and offer a string of positive recommendations from previous landlords/ladies. But I am a man. Therefore am a threat to someone’s ‘safety and comfort’ and even labelled by yourself as someone who seemingly cannot look at a woman without behaving inappropriately. I oughta be able to turn someone down if I don't like the way they shook my hand, and any other reason under the sun. Ought to why? Could a bakery decide not to sell their cakes to a black individual? Or a bank refuse to serve a homosexual? Of course not. It is blatant discrimination, illegal and categorically wrong. I guess that if the room was advertised, it could be a 'business', and thus subject to discrimination laws. Advertised or otherwise, you are making an exchange of a service for mone…
/r/MensRights12/10/19 11:42 PM

Despite your personal preferences, if you rent a room in your property, you’re running a business. And it’s illegal for business to discriminate against any protected class, which includes gender. I have no interest in you and your lack of a bra. Get over yourself. Edit: also as soon as a tenant signs that lease it’s not ‘your house’, it’s shared and they have the same rights to space and freedom of discrimination as you, or anyone else who lets a room.
/r/MensRights12/10/19 10:27 PM

I was refused a rental on a flat for the ‘safety and comfort’ of the live in landlady, purely on the basis of being male.

Yes, but they are a tiny minority of those on the left. You can’t generalise an entire political wing with the words and actions of a small percentage of its members. Ironically you’ve fallen into the trap that feminism falls into, judging all men by the actions of very few. Anyway, separating r/mensrights members into left and right and ridiculing one is needlessly divisive and unproductive.

Thanks for sending through studies that do nothing to back up your baseless claim. I for one would like to wish you all a happy women’s day, especially to the courageous women on this sub and the women in my life who have made me who I am today. I am of course critical of feminism, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t love women. Happy women’s day!

But what the hell are you on about?

What a stupid comment to make. We quite rightly call feminism to account when it suggests “most men” are problematic, such as the Gillette ad, then morons such as yourself go and make the exact same accusation. It’s wrong, divisive, non constructive and yes, idiotic.

I’ve never understood these stats, assuming most of these college men are straight, aren’t all the people they’re sleeping with women? Surely men and women are equally sexually active, by simple logic.

Great, so back to the original question. Can you show me the study/stats that shows a direct correlation between the rise of feminism and suicide rates within men?
/r/MensRights27/01/19 02:37 PM

Yes I agree with these being major contributors and serious problems within men's rights, although this wasn't part of your original comment. Neither did I take much issue with (the pretty broadstroke) original statement of 'The rise of feminism in mainstream culture (despite its severe unpopularity) is directly correlated with the rise in male suicide.' My problem is with your 'cant be fucked' attitude. If you can't be fucked to backup or provide detail to a statement, then don't make it at all…
/r/MensRights27/01/19 01:56 PM

I put this data to a feminist friend recently, but she argued that “men commit more violations than women in tennis, so it’s not surprising they’re penalised more”. Going on to say loads of men behave like Serena did, but get away with it. Such an annoying and subjective argument, any ideas of how to counter it?

No I've not missed your point. Nobodies 'forcing' her to do anything. She chose to rent her flat and become a landlady. Please stop twisting what I'm saying. Regardless, I'm not questioning the legality of anything. I'm merely asking whether it's fair to label me as a risk to someone's 'security and comfort' purely because I'm male.

That's not what's happened at all. She knows nothing of my political views, only that I'm male.

This is how I see it too. She's decided to become a landlady. Who like any other money making business, has no right to discriminate against prospective tenants. She shouldn't be renting out her home if she feels otherwise.

Thanks for the advice. Definitely haven't got any intention to take anybody to court. And to be honest, I don't want to live with someone who discriminates against men and feels I'm dangerous.

Agreed. If they'd asked about my occupation, criminal record (or lack of), education and general background I would feel a lot better about being judged. Instead all they saw was 'man', and made a decision on that.

Quick update, I'm certainly not looking at taking this to court. I'm only interested in the ethics of such a decision.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
