For example that all rich people are bad, only corrupted people make money and succeed etc. Read on it, it is very common. If his family is poor chances are that he grew up with some sort of idea like "We are poor, but we are honest/good" etc. Anyway, if I were you I would read more on the topic - a great book is "You are a badass at making money" by Jen Selter.
