DV laws here are not created to favor females over males. People's assumption that I arrest the guy because the girl is crying and has allegations are either misunderstanding of the investigation process or are flat out wrong. I'm sure people cause self injury and allege the other half did it. Probable Cause (necessary to affect an arrest) is not Beyond a Reasonable Doubt (required for court conviction). Read up on Primary Agressor. Apparently my example confused you as to what I means. Pushed, spit, etc are allegations I can't prove because I didn't see it and can't verify the allegation. They may have happened but there is nothing to prove it when I arrive. No. If she "starts it", and acts "crazy" i.e. spits, slaps, shoves, throws stuff and you retaliate to a point that you cause a mark or visible injury (keep in mind her "freak out" leaves no proof), the State (for me Washington), mandates I arrest you as the Primary Agressor due to extent of injury, physical prowess, etc..
