I've been all over the US and very methodically picked where I wanted to live based on quality of living in that place. Got a 5 bedroom house for about 300K and its in an emerging, great area with tons of amenities. These places exist, but yeah you might wind up out of your comfort zone. This is affected on a macro level because if a generation of people has a "Fuck you, got mine" mentality to governance, then the generations that come after them get to deal with however that manifested in policy.
