You are specifically referring to biological attachment which in that case is often referred to as the Cinderella affect. A step parent or step father is only after "stepping" into this kids life without any previous affections and with the expectation of having a relationship but like most relationships u have to get to know the person and theses things may take time and depending on the age trying to build a relationship may be tough, having to explain your not a replacement and with kids not …

Okay well I can't speak for everyone but my stepdad has never tried to kill me just because he has a daughter with my mom, also why are U comparing people to lions, if the stepparents are more likely to be abusive to the child chances are that child was already in a abusive relationship with their mother anyway, because if the mother cared about her kids she would put them first not herself, if she cared she would not allow such behaviour, those may be correct about lions but men are people okay…

It only increases abuse if the stepparent is being abusive, I have a great relationship with both my biological and stepfather alongside my mother so I don't get the problem here
