Yes, a thousand times this. My mother always had to be the martyr, sacrificing her happiness for the good of the family and making sure everybody knew and felt it at all times. To stay within the metaphor here, I'd much rather my mum had eaten the damn peach and been a happier person.

I really think that we are going through a process of widespread manufactured panic and fearmongering that is akin to the satanic panic. As a left leaning person that would very much like to back to the "equal rights and responibilities" flavor of feminism, this will backfire horribly. There will be generations of even more entitled women and even more disgruntled (and therefore primed to be radiclized by whomever) young men.

Do they truly believe that woman do not watch and enjoy porn? And that sex-positivity is a construct of the patriarchy? Like, I totally get hating on those sketchy Russian videos where everybody is clearly uncomfortable, but what about all those amateur couples that just enjoy sharing their videos?

Eh, this isn't too bad, tbh. She clearly recognizes the flawed conclusions and is aware of her own situation (feeling bitter and left behind) clouding her judgement. However, there are two questions that always come up when I read such phrases: What, exactly, is not included in this mysterious "bare minumum", because it seems that is has become a term for "anything below ridiculous princess treatment" And also, do they really, honestly and fully believe that all women are beautiful and gorgeous?…

I was just today thinking about something related: Apart from the obvious technical and financial changes in the movie industry, the LotR films could simply not be made today, as there would be not enough female lead characters. You would need to vastly expand the role of Arwen, Eowyn and Galadriel, maybe even add additional members to the fellowship to have any studio even think about touching that material. Yeah, I get where you're coming from, but that seems like a bad take. I would still always argue for helping those in need, no string attached. You might even help dispell some stereotypes and change a mind or two along the way. However, it might actually be useful to be careful while helping out. As always, don't put yourself in any situation which might be used against you.

Ah well, that's mostly ragebait though. There is nothing particularly new about this theory, Bassano has long been considered a possible candidate for those fringe scholars who believe in Shakespeare not being the true author. Calling somebody who is half-Morrocan black is quite the stretch, though, she was likely not significantly darker skinned than most people around her, and had very little (more likely no) cultural ties to that part of her heritage.

I'm also constantly baffled by the idea that women can do everything better than men, can perform at least as well as men at any job, are natural born leaders and the most empathic beings to ever walk the earth....but for about two weeks a month they are also not responsible for their actions/emotional outbursts, need to be treated with velvet gloves, would ideally need government-madated PTO.

Yup, can confirm. I am a teacher in a theater-focused high school and therefore also work with lots of boys in all stages of transitioning. Many of them are so utterly shocked by the way society in general (and the super liberal bubble they live in) starts treating them as soon as they reach a certain stage of passing.

I will never ever understand the idea of saying "kill all men" (which is literally advocating for the cold blooded murder of half the population) and then turning around and claiming that if you don't respond positively to that statement, you are part of the problem. And of course it is a "joke", coming from the same people who rightfully demand that people take great care about what they say. Like, you are literally "joking" about wanting to kill me and my children. Come and fight me.
