She was so funny in New Girl. I laugh every time she comes on screen!

Oh absolutely! We’re doing completely separate finances with a shared credit card for shared expenses - so I’ll be able to save up as much as I want with the remainder of my money after expenses. I definitely believe on erring on the side of caution - and best case scenario I’ll never need to use those savings for myself and instead they can go to our future together - so it’s a win win either way ☺️

Awww. My bf and I were discussing our finances recently and trying to decide how to split rent (he’s making more than me for the next year, but I’ll be making the same as him/more within a year and a half), and I said that I would like to pay a bit less so that I can amass some savings just in case something happened between us. He gave me a big hug, told me that it was totally fine, but also said that no matter what happens between us he will always care for me and if I needed money/some suppor…

Yeah the families where both people change their last name to something new seems awesome in theory, but won’t work for us in practice. It’s interesting how the dynamics change when you’re in an inter-racial relationship. I don’t want an Indian name (feels weird to me - I’m an outsider and don’t want to adopt something that’s not mine), and he doesn’t want a white name. We’re also both already started our careers and don’t want to change. We also want our kids to have connections to both the whi…

I agree! I think for the both of us, it’s important to pass on our actual last names and to have that connection with our kids instead of having them have a completely different last name. For me, it’s my kids having my name since I would have given birth to them, and for him, it’s having his children have an Indian name. Our names are also very different and there isn’t really a good combination that sounds good. Haha. But totally support this option for other families!

These are exactly my options as well! My boyfriend is Indian (I’m white) and his last name means a lot to him identity wise, so we’ve agreed that he’ll keep his, ill keep mine, and we will hyphenate for the kids. I wish there was a better option outside of hyphenation for the kids, but I haven’t come up with one yet.

Yeah also as a vegetarian the only other veggie option might be unappealing or weird af so I opt for the salad’ not doing it for health necessarily, just want a yummy meal

I agree. I also think that for people in major cities where rent is expensive it’s stupid to not live together. I moved in with my boyfriend after about a year and a half together. Before moving in, we both confirmed that we are committed to each other and are looking at marriage in a few years. I don’t think there’s any repercussions to living together for us - it’s really great to enjoy this stage together before moving to marriage!

I got it a few years ago on red bubble! I can’t find the exact one I got but this is similar: https://www.redbubble.com/people/lilim/works/33623900-cool-girl-monologue?body_color=white&p=t-shirt&print_location=front&size=medium&style=womens&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=g.pla+notset&country_code=CA&gclid=EAIaIQobChMInfXWgO3R5wIVDdVkCh0uBAylEAQYBCABEgJNIPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds If you just search on red bubble there are lots of options!

I was long distance with my boyfriend on our first Valentine’s Day last year. He knew it was important for me because I had never had one before. I had plans with my friends that evening and when I got to my friends house, he had gotten my friend to buy me flowers and chocolates and had shipped a card to her house. It was so special and not that much effort! You deserve something like that 💞

This reminds me of a post on here a few weeks ago - about the woman’s fiancé almost leaving her because he found out she had anal sex with someone else years before they met but wouldn’t do it with him

If you don’t change your name, I don’t change my name. Equality. Why should I do something you don’t have to?

Oh man. That’s brutal. I’m in Canada so the sex offender thing is less of a concern since that person likely wouldn’t be allowed to practice law, but the secret marriage thing doesn’t really surprise me. Proceed with caution around lawyers is good advice.

Agree. Setting aside whether the men themselves are good/bad partners, there’s also a reason that lawyers end up with lawyers a disproportionate amount of the time. Being a lawyer is weird and hard and sometimes it can be confusing for people who date lawyers since it’s something that can’t be understood from the outside - so there’s that consideration with lawyers as well.

Yeah I’m in law school and the guys are either like some of the best men I’ve ever met or some of the worst.

This is the same thing they say to us when we get upset about men texting/fucking multiple people before were official with them. This is a two way street, bud!
