Wow. Got me all wet eyed over here. No one ever tells dads they’re doing a good job. I’m deeply moved by your words and I’m so grateful you took the time to comment. My youngest, now 18, just had senior prom last night. My 20yr old is out living his dream, 8 states away. Im not prepared for the youngest to go. But i want him to go make a life. Both of my boys say they can’t wait to be dads because it seems so fun. ☺️ Thanks again. OP you having fun yet?

Yes many of us have awesome victory stories. There are many ways to get divorced. I agree that in your situation you’re happy. But how can you apply every detail of your situation to every person getting a divorce after you. Every situation is different. “Do what i did cause it worked when i did it” isn’t stable footing for someone else making decisions that will impact their family forever. The response should be “in my situation, the lawyer route was best. Do your research and make a plan” I a…

It’s definitely not true to state all that as absolute fact. I trust you’re not in the business of profiting from your statements. If you are, shame on you. There lots of ways to get divorced. I think OP is missing it with his current plan, but there are lots of ways to do it that don’t include padding the pockets of a system that survives on family conflict. It is very possible to agree with your spouse on how to move forward with or without divorce, If you can, enjoy your new life and the bags…

Varies by state. In NC spouses both get equal deed rights even if only one person pays. I had the mortgage, she had half ownership of the equity. When i asked her to sign a quit Claim deed she refused. So that meant if i wanted to sell, she would get half of the gain. Being the petty son of a bitch I was post divorce, i let the house go into foreclosure because I liked the idea of losing more than I liked the idea of her gaining. I may have not answered your question, dude, no. Do not enter into…

Let the house foreclose so she loses equally. Bankruptcy is bad. You can restore your credit in four years with a credit card. Bankruptcy looks bad for a long time.

I told mine she could use all the accounts then reset the passwords within an hour. It was fun to be petty over something petty.

No doubt it’s hard. And every company that claims to be a “family first” company is full of shit. 2 doctors appointments, school, hockey practice. Wrestling practice, dinner, 9 hr workday. No problem! Keep a nice resume. Thats been the hardest part for me. I’ll stay up late working then get up early to work. Be in the office 6 hours. 10 hour work day, boss thinks i only work half days. 😢 I had a boss complain that i spent too much time “playing dad” 🤣

Don’t punish someone that’s broken. The anger will pass. Soon you’ll be thankful shes gone cause she wasn’t that helpful anyway. The clouds lifted when mine left. The 3 of us felt so free. As a dad that has had to be both parents, I can tell you, we have a wonderful life. The connection I have with them is glorious. You’ll settle in to the roll. Just put love first. In all things. You can do it. Please let me know if you ever need to talk. Its a hard fuckn job. I cry sometimes cause its so hard.…

Don’t hold the money against her. My ex has never given me a dime. I’ve never asked for one. My kids know I carry the load, eventually they ask. Usually around Christmas when you tell them a $1200 gaming computer isn’t in the budget. “Well, you and mom can split it”? Nah, mom doesn’t give us money. But that’s ok, we don’t need her to. We just learn to plan. Teach them how to budget. Please avoid saying negative things. Trust me, she’ll disappoint them for many years to come, be the man that teac…

My kids are 16/18. Been divorced 8 years. Just give her the time to talk. It may seem counter productive but you never want to be the reason they don’t talk. She’ll hang herself over time. Let her. I still speak positive to my kids about their mom. I tell them stories about her good times. Our good times. I don’t overdo it. But i do make sure they know, no matter what, their mom loves them. She does. Whatever mental illness that woman has shouldn’t be used as a weapon to make your children feel …

I was encouraged during that time by being a petty savage who constantly served up bad news for my ex and her boyfriend. It was pretty wild. But it once she was gone it was like that feeling of getting home from Disney. I looked forward to putting her out for 6 months. 5 of those she didn’t know i was aware of the infidelity. After she was out, i had a huge desire to fill her spot. For me, for my kids, for our home. I had 3 relationships back to back over the next 6 months. They were for self re…

You definitely do not want to villainize her in front of the kid. Its hard sometimes but no matter how pathetic a mom is, her son will always love her. Its sad and difficult but kids need a mom. You don’t want the police involved, but it’s ok for her to scared and settle things quickly

I spent zero dollars. My ex was cheating with a neighbor. I spent 5 months getting my shit together without saying a word. When it is time, i sent her a letter saying i was suing her, get out of my house in 30 days. I sent one to him saying i was suing him for alienation of affection. (Thats a NC thing, most states got rid of the law) i told him he had 14 days to settle or i’d tell his wife. I told her right he signed it. But anyway I made a shit ton of threats and they kinda just freaked out wa…

If you do have to get a lawyer they can easily subpoena social media record. The only way to send a message that disappears is android or SMS on iPhone. Ya know, the green texts. Inxe deleted, they’re gone. Everything else including can be pulled from the cloud even after deleted

If you’re in NC you can sue her and kick her out. The claim is Divorce from Bed and Board. She cheats so she is opting out having no claim for money or custody. You need to have proof she cheated. I hope you screenshotted the texts and sent them. If its iPhone you can get the complete iMessage history. If the phone is in your name, get the records from them. Call logs and all. Send me a dm if you want the documentation used against my ex, i can email the docs. If not NC, you’re state may have di…

What happens when you’re alone that makes it unpleasant? I’m very out going and have a big personality. But when I get home from work I would rather be alone in my head. My 10 yr marriage was challenging for lots of reasons but having to share opinions dinner, lighting, temperature, volume of music, fan speed, who’s responsible for what. Just cohabitating in general was a struggle. Were you happy in the marriage? Usually the good ones workout.

ADHD, bi-polar, wife cheated, marriage ended 8 years ago. About 7 years ago i started Psychedelic therapy. It saved my life. I don’t take any anti depressants or anxiety meds and no weed or alcohol. I just don’t want other stuff. Its been amazing. So, Shrooms are legal in DC and a few other states. LSD is my favorite. Inexpensive, very high quality, consistent and easy to get. And there are ketamine clinics opening up too! Ketamine treatments are expensive but the industry is pushing insurance t…

You’ve tried many things to fix the relationship. I would be interested in hearing because if your efforts weren’t the right solution, what methods did you use? Therapy, individual or group. Doing a program together, like team building. Read marriage help book. Listen to podcasts together on the topic. If you’re Spiritual Prayer. Seek outside advice (like now). The point is, neither of you has the answer. You can’t internally just fix it. You have to go get information. Seek out guidance. I see …

First, you do not move out. You will ruin any chance you have at getting 50/50 on custody and finance. Second, you sound depressed. I never say this because divorce was the best thing ever for me. It was better because my wife was in a relationship with our neighbor. So divorce was the best solution when i deemed homicide unnecessary. Reading some of your comments makes me wonder why you wouldn’t try to fix things. I’m wondering where the problems are, no fighting or abuse, no infidelity, no alc…

When i tried, i found that every woman was wanting more than I was willing to give. They are quick to start rebuilding what they once had or establish what they never had. Don’t ask to meet my kids after a couple months. I don’t want to meet yours. The worst thing you can do is start playing house with someone and falls apart in three years. Your kids will pay the price. I figure every minute i’m not building up my kids, I’m building up myself to be better for them. Every minute I give to someon…

Just reading again your comment made me think about the benefits of mending. My victory over her and the paramour were paper thin. We didn’t even go to court. She settled, he settled within 2 weeks. I broke the agreement straight away by telling his wife the whole story. Shit got wild and i did punish them extensively in the first year or so. That was 8 years ago. It does seem like you’re looking for reasons to align with your desire to trade up. Weight loss is a wild journey and no surgery will prevent you from gaining the weight back. The more confidence you gain, the less you’ll want her. The more you see that dick, the more you’ll want it see the world. Without the weight loss you likely wouldn’t have the confidence to leave. What you should do (i think) is make her your partner in health too. Exercise together. Eat well together, gain confidence toge…

She is cheating, you don’t owe her money. She leaves the home, she leaves the kids. Please understand, this woman is a liar. If she started a relationship with someone else she has lied and will continue to lie to protect herself. My ex admitted to a lesbian affair because its easier. The lesbian was our neighbor. He is a man. She just thought I would be less hurt if she lied. Not saying your wife is lying about her new love, but don’t believe everything she says.

Just an aside, in my case it was easy to identify her behavior only because a sibling held that power before her. Didn’t make it easier to overcome, but I didn’t have to fight my feelings as much. My question is, was there a person in your life (yes, duh) that conditioned you to feel comfortable with those personality types. Mom, dad, older sibling? If that’s the case is that person still around? I was married when i went back and retroactively cleaned up my childhood. It was rad. I cut off the …

You sir, are a victim of abuse. When she is sad, happy, evil, loving, generous, shallow, horny, sulking, doesn’t fuckn matter, when she is awake; she is manipulating your mind. She needs to keep you at the very edge of her control. You’re inclined to allow it to continue.

Maybe the men get tired of being treated as second class citizens. Does that guy sleep in the same house as your children? Does he drop off/pick up at school, organized events, play dates? Is he ever providing primary care for your children? If so, give him a platform and some respect. Theres no logic in building walls if your kids are on the other side

Yassssss!!!!! It gets better. So much better. Y’all pulled the trigger young. If you want someone to grow old with, get married when you’re old. The person you are at 20, 30, 40 is way different. People with extremely long marriages run their lives like a business. The home is the headquarters and everything that comes in and goes out has to be tended to and cultivated. Finance, janitorial, maintenance, child care, entertainment, meals, fellowship + friendship, love and physical touch. It’s a bu…

Write a separation agreement. I have one if you want it. In NC we had to get it notarized. Then a year later my ex went on front of judge and we got a divorce. It was like $150 Edit. NJ seems much the same. The important thing is to put the details in your separation agreement to protect both of your integrity. Possessions, payouts, custody. All the details. Again i have a doc if youd like. PM me your email. The state also has free resources. https://www.njcourts.gov/selfhelp/selfhelp_divorce.ht…

Yeah we’re 8 years out now. Its a fantastic life. You will get there. But trust me when I say, it will be easier for you to move on if you use them as footing. Crush them. Make sure you feel like you got the better of them. They have each other, they will make you feel like thats the prize. Its not. I spent over 100 days planning how i would let them know they were caught. 104 nights. In the same bed. Plotting. When the hammer dropped, they were devastated. The friends and family won’t matter. You’ll retain/lose nothing as will she. What matters is having the ability to leave with what’s yours. Not sure of your state, but i was able to keep everything. Literally everything. She had to leave and start over. Divorce from bed and board is harsh shit. 7 states allow for alienation of affection, i had my ex’s boyfriend become responsible for care. When you guys talked about a peaceful separation with no lawyers what was her response? Are the kids old enough to decide they would rather be with you or is it best to share custody? I understand the hostility. I was in a similar situation. I suggested she come up with an exit strategy and offered 50/50 custody. First, stop talking to her unless it's in reference to caring for your child. Any communication other than that should be done via text. Even if you're if the same room. For $30 you can buy a program called "Decipher Text Message" It will convert all your texts to PDF. From the time I told my ex wife to get out until the day she left I accumulated over 700 pages of texts. She buried herself daily. I sued for divorce from bed and board and made her leave. She was a stay at home mom. I got the kid…
