Well, none of us were alive back then but judging from plays, books, songs etc it seems very likely that women were indeed largely oppressed But what you say about men is true. We were left to do the dangerous and messy work However, nowadays at least in the west, men are the victims of sexism far more than women Women are no longer oppressed.
