To confirm, I got nothing like this while schooling in the 60s and 70s. Treatment did not seem to vary by sex except a few examples of less tolerance for boys; boys were given the tools and expected to figure it out. If a boy can't, he'd be ridiculed by the teacher (3rd grade). Girls would be helped when they were dummies. During those years, expections for boys were clearly higher. In highschool, I don't recall ever seeing it. Totally different world though.

I was an Usan teenager living in a conservative technology town in the 70s and university in 1980, southern California for both. During that time, political or religious conversation in high school absolutely did not happen. I was an open misotheist and atheist, but I would never voice of it loudly. It wasn't bigotry. Talking down to rural conservatives has eternally been a progressive stupidity. We need to stop slapping them for their "ignorance" and instead invite them to the dinner table so that they can overhear the alternative conversation. It sounded like a pipe dream as I typed that, but progressives absolutely play an active role in repelling them. How to successfully change that conversation? Well ... I'm still working on that. :-/

While I absolutely agree with your point, for me the focus has changed. I cringe as I write this, but men's issues, in all of their validity, are back burner for me now. For me, at least into the near future, the main issue has become humanity versus the oligarchs. Somehow, considerate and equal treatment in Hell lacks its appeal. We need to care less about what our ship is transporting and worry more about steering her away from the reefs.
