I'm a pretty liberal guy, so let me explain my stance as both a progressive and a proponent of mens rights. I don't want this to become a political debate. I don't identify with conservative ideas very much. I believe society would be much better with universal health care, safety nets for citizens and actual regulation of many industries. I believe in equality, and I don't support any laws or agencies that support unequal treatment. Basically, I'd rather have a NWHIC AND a NMHIC than have neith…

Women are beginning to make more money than men of equal status. This sucks if it's true. I believe in equal pay for equal work. It has nothing to do with the article, however. I was asking about why THIS ARTICLE was posted. Women never marry down, money-wise This might be a trend, I'm not sure. This isn't something we can regulate, and we shouldn't try. you have a generation of women only attracted to (and fighting over) the 20% of men that make the most money Some will, sure. Who cares? Not al…

If you treat genders equally, it sounds like you'd be against the MGTOW movement as well :/

It seems like she was looking more for a romantic than someone of a higher class. We can't reasonably argue that if she doesn't settle for someone, men are somehow being disadvantaged. If no one is being oppressed by her behavior, who cares what she does?

You cannot necessarily just combine two unrelated studies and use it to confirm thingsarebad's hypothesis. You can extrapolate if the data represents the population well enough (I'm assuming it does) Most importantly, the women who remain virgins until they marry are more likely to view marriage differently that women who have had previous partners, even if they are not religious I completely agree that some do, but you seem to be assuming that there are enough women that fall into the 'deeply r…

Wouldn't it be more productive to support egalitarian organizations rather than feminist ones?

Ok, how is this hypergamy? It never mentions leaving a significant other for another one. She didn't want to settle, never married and never had kids. She should be allowed to do that. Where specifically are mens' rights threatened in any way?

Well, he is acting kind of douchey, but he has a very good point. The stats are pretty solid, and christians actually have similar to, if not higher than, divorce rates than other religious people and secularists. http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_dira.htm

It's an interesting idea.

Possibly, but finding a cool gamer girlfriend who accepts cohabitation as a substitute to marriage is pretty special. I guess it's worth the potential shitstorm. Thanks, dude.

I don't see any misandry in the article, why the link?

You should know her so well that you are basically 99.99% sure she will stay with you through thick and thin. Yep, we're pretty committed to each other. I want the paternity test for several reasons. Mainly, I think current paternity laws suck. I choose to bypass most of them by simply paying about $100 once, and never worrying about it again. I think things would be much better if all parents had paternity tests, so why not have one just for the hell of it? It's mostly principle, but there is a…

I'm pretty sure I need her permission to do it at the hospital, which is where I would have to put my name on the birth certificate (as far as I understand the process). The test would ideally be performed before I sign the certificate, which is why I want to talk it over with her first. I'm just having trouble bringing it up.

I actually saved this post when I first found it, it was very well written. I don't think I should dump her just because the potential for abuse exists. My goal here is to avoid as many laws that allow me to be exploited as I can, which is why I would want a paternity test at birth. The main problem with the story is that he didn't take any precautions himself, and we use condoms as well as birth control pills. (There are cases of the woman using the sperm from the condom to get herself pregnant…

Yeah, exactly. I trust her, but I can't 100% confirm her trustworthiness, regardless of how high my confidence in her actually is. :/ Playing up the necessity for accurate family trees is clever. Thanks!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
