They don’t have to adhere to gender norms like men do. It’s more common for young women to identify as LGBT as compared to men, and are less interested in becoming parents as compared to men (if these surveys and articles are to be believed)

I saw another post lamenting that men don’t hold the door or give up their seats for women and that chivalry is gone. Men are expected to be chivalrous while nothing is expected of women, and if anything they’re told to keep contact with stranger men to a minimal.

You’re spot on. Here is the US, things are too expensive for some young people that it makes all the responsibilities and perks with being an adult inaccessible, or not worth the grind in the eyes of zoomers. Some parents also exaggerate the “stranger danger” thing.

Me as well as other young men, were raised by overbearing mothers who raised us to be risk avoidant. We also didn’t have a father figure at home who taught us what being a man entails.
