I think you're right that there is an underlying issue because I don't particularly think sleeping in is bad. I enjoy sleeping in occasionally. But I don't think I'm jealous either because I don't want to sleep in all the time, I like getting up early on weekdays. I think the underlying issue may be that he's not exercising anymore and has gained weight.
