If they're ready to harm me or someone else, and capable of it, I don't care what they are. Sure, I wouldn't harm them at all costs, I'd just make sure they can't harm anyone. For example, a hip throw works pretty well. I'm not saying he should've choked her out or anything, but as long as an opponent is a threat, you shouldn't just stop fighting back. I know it's easy to talk from behind a screen, and I'm obviously not in a fight where it's not easy to think, but a takedown would seem more logical here, rather than a choke.
