Editing to add that I thought your comment was a reply to something I said. That was my mistake. Apologies for the confusion. Where in my comment did I say ANY of that?

Edit to add that I replied to the wrong comment. Are you asking me why I would be miserable if I wasn’t financially secure and had to rely on someone else entirely?

I’m not making presumptions that OP feels this way, but as a guy I don’t understand why other guys don’t get how important it is for women who want to be independent to not rely on a man for all their financial security. I have seen a few friends go thru messy divorces (I’ve seen both the men and the women get what appears to me to be unfair treatment and/or settlements), and my wife and I have one friend who’s husband left her after she got a cancer diagnosis, seemingly BECAUSE of the diagnosis…

I should have clarified. My point was women face more violence from men in greater numbers and more often than men face from women.

Please believe me, I am not tying to disprove what you said, I think you make a great point and respect your take. One question: For a lot of guys the biggest issue they run into with dating is getting rejected in an insulting manner when they ask a girl at a bar or club if he can buy them a drink. I don’t just mean that a woman says “No”, that alone is never enough to warrant a man complaining; he asked a question, and she answered, that’s how it is supposed to work. I mean situations where a w…

I don’t envy you having to deal with the responses you will get from a lot of other men with this comment. Every guy commenting here should have a note on their device with “While domestic and other forms of violence also happens to men and shouldn’t be discounted, women face violence from men in greater numbers and more often than men.” written down so they can copy and paste it into a reply. Edited to add: I think the only area in dating where the average man is privileged is their safety. I h…

Serious question for those who are against this. Do you have an issue with this concept in a vacuum? I realize it may not be possible to separate this out from the world as a whole, but if were just this, and nothing else, would you still have a problem with it?

Yeah, I’d also like a source for the “bonding hormone” thing

I don’t. I don’t whether or not anyone I know does, no one has ever mentioned it and I can’t say it is the kind of topic that would be discussed among us. No judgement for people who would discuss it, just doesn’t happen in my friend group n

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
