Totally, I don't want to hate her but she's making it very difficult for me not too! Shifting the blame away from yourself is absolutely necessary. I buried the "bad times" and now I'm digging them up to remind myself that not everything was rosey, that there were difficult times. I wanted to start a family and I try to think that she wasn't in a place to do so, or perhaps even ever, and I find some comfort in that she may have done me a favor. Everyone's situation is different, but sometimes we…

Yep, totally felt blindsided. They check out weeks, months, or sometimes even years ago. Looking back I see the redflags and then you start falling into the cycle of "what if I did this and that...". Toxic. Don't do that. Instead, understand the part we played in the dissolution of the marriage and better ourselves from that understanding. Our exes likely won't and they'll just play the victim card. We would have given everything and anything to make it work I'm sure, and most likely lose oursel…

It's funny because I'm in the same boat. Thousands of beautiful photos of her and us together through various travel trips. I find it absolutely gut wrenching to try and even consider deleting them, but my Google notifications keep reminding me of those moments. I don't know how to say this, but I was really into photography and she became my "model". I was so proud of the photos we took together, that I took of her. It was almost as if I was a director in my own movie and my star cast walked aw…

I'm 6 months in separation, the days are getting easier but I still ruminate. I went through varying stages of grief and I still miss her. We did a settlement and I can see the end is near, all that's left is paperwork. I admitted my faults and did a lot of self-blame in the beginning, but now I realize it wasn't all me and that I deserved better. Therapy helps somewhat, but I found more comfort in podcasts breaking down mine and my ex's psychology. I like to think it's more her family and possi…

You have so many options before dropping the D-bomb. Get it together and listen to these men. Come on!

Yep..after she walked away, I realize I was begging to get her back because I just wanted to settle for less. I now realize I deserve more than that...I shouldn't settle. I deserve someone whose supportive, gracious, gentle, and honest. I don't deserve what she put me through..but my logic is overrun by emotions

I definitely have a lot to be thankful for. I read some of the posts here and I'm grateful I have full support of friends and family. I'm grateful for all the men on this forum helping each of us go through this crisis together...one step at a time, sharing their wisdom everyday.

I share your pain and while I don't have kids, take pride in knowing you still have beautiful children and you owe it to them to give your best self. I'm sure they can pick up on your energy, so feed off of theirs. Feed off of the love they give off. Harness that joy and take pride in them. To help with the thoughts, I found writing letters about my emotions to my ex, whether it be an outpouring of sorrow or anguish, was really a cathartic experience. It's essentially journaling, but you're dire…

I'm right there with you friend. You cannot find logic in the illogical choices she made. It was all her and not you. I remind myself of that every day...it's so so so tough.

I proposed on NYE 3 years ago. It was a surreal moment. We danced and had friends all around, while fireworks went off in the background. Popped champagne and we took some beautiful photos together. Somehow I can't get over it. I look at that moment and remember how amazing it was. We all went out for dinner after. Those photos and videos are forever etched in my memory, preserving my youth for a moment that I could one day look fondly back at and show our children how beautiful mom and dad look…

I'm just like this and read this book. It changed my perspective mostly on relationships with family and friends (didn't get through it completely so not sure if it would help with a romantic relationship). Great book though...must read

Misery is company. Been lurking on this forum for a while too. Share your pain with others, there's comfort to that.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
