Ironic coming from an r/childfree poster

I try not to bitch about women or their preferences too much Some of them like me, many are uninterested. This is all ok. Constant whining is annoying and unproductive, but this sub serves as one of the spaces where that venting viewpoint will be around. I don't think men are embarrassed meeting women, or that women's standards are necessarily too high. I don't think dating is a meritocracy - some of women's standards are arbitrary, not high (the same could be said about men). I meant that overt…

Possibly, yeah. I know that many dudes are just chasing pussy, and some will even be dishonest in this pursuit. And I will concede that in general, from what I've seen, young men are less willing to put overt effort into seeking any given woman, at first. Possibly because they have felt some amount of emasculation or shame from past 'simping' not going their way, or from observing trends in attraction among their peers. But hopefully, were I a woman, I could use discernment and wouldn't be 'ran …

"Muh, too many options" "I'm overwhelmed" "too many choices I can't make a decision" I think this is hypergamy in action man. They want the absolute best guy they can land, so their apparently endless options overwhelm them.

For sure indifference, from what I've seen typically (esp. the male perspective on other men's loneliness - a weird yin yang of solidarity and indifference). I have also seen people on here attribute male loneliness to toxic masculinity, though. In OP's post, I basically read machismo to mean 'stereotypically masculine behavior.' Not precisely equivalent, but probably including whatever 'toxic masculinity' encompasses.

Das rite! the real mccoy, the genuine article baby. Nah lol I'm just a fun guy with all the trappings of an internet troll. I should typically not be listened to, no. Sure feels good pissin in the wind though

Posted this below. It is a fairly common claim from women on this sub that male loneliness isn't something women can/ought to/want to do anything about; and that these men should be seeking out platonic connections with other men to assuage their loneliness. Some then speculate that men aren't connecting with each other for any number of reasons: the death of third spaces, toxic masculinity (machismo?), garden variety autism, whatever.

"You don't sound as intelligent as you believe you do lol" This was just straight up catty and gay of me. Sorry boss. I think the combo of your flair and the /thread actually triggered me lmao Genuinely, what separates machismo and toxic masculinity? I guess machismo is like bravado and swagger. I don't guess I have an extremely well defined concept of toxic masculinity

>not a pissing contest >/thread If my flair indicated I was an emissary of science, I might occasionally care about sounding intelligent. Lucky for both of us I'm just an r-slurred f-slur. Yeah man evidence is king, I just get flustered sometimes. Like yeah I'm using rhetoric in the debate sub, what of it? Hmm, someone claims something that runs counter to your experience, if I'm a betting man, you're gonna hit em with a cold: Source?

Your assertion very well may be true, but surely many (most?) cases of paternity fraud never get uncovered. Similarly, there are SA victims who never come forward. (this is so hard to phrase without sounding downright slimey, but I still feel like I have a point here somewhere) But at least there is some incentive for a victim of SA to share: the perpetrator might face justice. And I acknowledge that shame or fear or what have you could just as easily serve as a disincentive for that same victim…

Source? Do you have a source on that? Source? A source. I need a source. Sorry, I mean I need a source that explicitly states your argument. This is just tangential to the discussion. No, you can't make inferences and observations from the sources you've gathered. Any additional comments from you MUST be a subset of the information from the sources you've gathered. You can't make normative statements from empirical evidence. Do you have a degree in that field? A college degree? In that field? Th…

Well, as you stated yourself: "Just spending time [lollygagging], even considering the small possibility it would work, is way more effective than any efforts you can take..." I, personally, do not ascribe to the anthropocenic climate crisis thing. This whole exchange has been tough for me to keep up lol. > But it's very handy to shift responsibility to the individual level to prevent any real change. I do observe this playing out in all kinds of ways, though. Just within the internet discourse realm, we've got bot farms, corpo shills, and think tank goobers tag teaming the average user with social experiments. So you're dead on about being wary of this sentiment, despite me trying to uno reverse you, is what I'm trying to say I think.

Right on. I don't think I agree, or maybe we're talking past each other. I will concede that my own personal boycott won't change anything. But, the only thing that's my responsibility, with regards to this discussion ofc, would be my own actions (the micro-individual level ig haha). I think you may be shifting responsibility away from individuals to avoid confronting either cognitive dissonance or a lifestyle change. We all play the hands we are dealt, sure. No sense overthinking every little thing too hard, I don't guess. But say I've got a bunch of shitty consumerist spending habits, and according to my worldview I've got a large carbon footprint and have been contributing, albeit minutely, to screwing up the planet. Why shouldn't I just hold myself accountable to a reasonable degree? So maybe I can't escape my commute, but I don't have to buy crap at least. Like, nobody has to buy junk. I'm not above an i…

This is a bit tangential, but hopefully illustrative. I think something as simple as following mainstream science and the anthropocenic climate change narrative, and then also participating in the globalized economy is pretty hypocritical. Right? Thank you. Why would you not want to assuage your partner's insecurity, especially if you could do that relatively easily? Can you imagine if dudes commonly approached relationships with this mindset: "So [her] feelings matter more than mine? Why is home[girl]'s insecurity my issue?"

Jeez louise, I know you're obstinate and this is fun, but this is like borderline bad faith right? I will attempt to weed out whores and bitches by observing behaviors. Yeah I guess most people are inauthentic to a degree. What about the rest of the vetting I mentioned? Whether she has kids, how she spends her time, how she treats people, and how she takes care of herself? These are all behaviors. That's irrelevant, you just wanna dunk on me lol?

Lol what, I am saying precisely to observe her behavior "how she carries herself, among other things" is how she behaves. So is whether or not she likes to go out. I posed that question to you because I outlined how you can observe a girl's behavior (what she does for fun, work, and how she carries herself), and you dismiss those things as not real. I only posted the one comment you just replied to. I am not bottleblank. And once again, I'll pose the question: If a whole lotta men see no reason to continue fulfilling their part of the social contract, would that be a good thing? USD is monopoly money lol. Society doesn't just stay together on accident, under any conditions. Women don't have to date men. Men don't have to be productive. But society as we know it may not last extremely long should enough people stop being productive

You and I both replied to: > She's just trying hard to cope because nobody wants her except for pump and dump guys I never said she was fucking anyone. I reckon she said otherwise, she don't need no man, but we were both replying to a different comment. It is insulting her. It's like saying only prostitutes would fuck a guy (i.e. women are not attracted to him and he provides little value in a relationship). If you are only attracting fuck boys, you are some combination of easy, unattractive, uninteresting, or possibly just super socially stunted or not perceptive. Or just very young - if you're late teen/early twenties then yeah a lot of male peers won't be looking to settle down

Idk, but I think that it's just an extension of the "women are wonderful" thing. We're here solely for your entertainment, ladies; and if it breathes, it simps. I am being silly now, but idk these expectations feel more or less ingrained. I think a lot of guys genuinely believe that there are many, many extremely good looking women out there who aren't famous. I am not coping so hard as to claim Gal Gadot and Margot Robbie are mid; I find them very attractive - but I am legitimately more attracted to a lot of every day women I see around. Like there are bad mamacitas at the gym, the grocery store, the park, etc. Gal and Margot have unfortunately aged out for me :P (being silly but I am significantly younger than either of them)

So, say the first couple times I encounter a woman, she's wearing baggy sweats, a baggy T, and baggy eyes with little or no makeup on. She and I happen to click somehow, who knows, and become an item. Now is it ok if I'm disappointed or upset when she suddenly begins a phase of dressing sexy, or would that be out of line still? Most of the women in my life dress a variety of ways. They pretty much all apparently have a good amount of variety in their wardrobe. Some days they try and look cute, m…

I wish it were so, but I don't think so. (But I completely agree with your comment further up in the thread regarding bikinis.) I have only seen women advocate for/want to wear the sexy costumes. I have never seen a man want his gf to wear the sexy Halloween outfit, but he will often acquiesce in her decision. Because, while you might be insecure about your partner's revealing attire, you don't wanna start a big fight. Plus, she has the backing of her friends + all of social media, whereas I'm j…

Fair enough. I took "support a family" to mean including as just the primary breadwinner. Most of these guys' (the ones I know, anyway) wives don't have a career and work part time, but I think that's great if that's what they want.

The commenter you're replying to was a little blunt. I wouldn't frame 'socializing and not getting laid' as not getting good ROI, provided the socializing was meaningful to a degree. But everybody wants something from one another. We are social creatures because it benefits us and we're built for it. One of those things people could want is sex. If a lonely fella is receiving zero sexual attention while he's out there socializing, he may just deduce that he needs to work on his finances or physi…

It is a little disrespectful to insinuate that blue collar men are not able to scratch a living, though not egregiously so. Plenty of blue collar guys do alright. Not all of em. I posted this elsewhere, but just in my own life I have known plumbers, framers, carpenters, electricians, welders, linemen, truckers, farmers, mechanics, tow truck drivers, oil field cats, heavy equipment operators and even landscapers, painters, and general laborers who support their family as the primary (but most oft…

I've known plumbers, framers, carpenters, electricians, welders, linemen, and even landscapers, painters, and general laborers who support their family as the primary (but most often not sole) breadwinner. /r/PurplePillDebate17/10/23 12:53 AM

Gotcha, I think. Sexually compatibility and libido are important in a relationship, I agree. Extremely, even. But (and I could be misunderstanding) I think OP is just saying he wants to feel an emotional connection, as well; not that the sexual attraction isn't vital.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/10/23 04:25 PM
1

I'd wager that it's only because a man feels some amount of jealousy and/or possessiveness in a relationship that he is willing to deter other men on the woman's behalf. And I don't think that's a bad thing - why couldn't this jealousy/possessiveness emanate from a place of genuine love? Idk, maybe i've got a bad, half-baked take here. Because obviously, jealousy and possessiveness play roles in abusive dynamics, as well
/r/PurplePillDebate16/10/23 04:10 PM

Do women consider this when they are gauging their attraction in a man? His sexual satisfaction? Seems a little cart before the horse-y. I don't think OP has done much to suggest he would be a selfish lover, if that was your implication (not sure that it is). It seems like OP just wants to connect with someone authentically, but is overthinking his own attraction to women, or something. He's just saying he doesn't wanna act on goofy horndog impulses and isn't looking for a hookup

Well, I mean, the root word persona - while very closely related - is a different word than personality. To illustrate what I'm trying to get at: gender, genitals, genus, genre. They aren't exactly synonyms. But I do seem to agree to some extent. 'Vibes' are very important vis a vis compatibility.

I think this distinction isn't always obvious to young men early in their dating career. In the context of dating, personality absolutely refers most often to the fun or interesting side of things (which isn't even necessarily bad - 'vibes' and a genuine connection are the rewarding things I've been able to find in relationships). But when a dude who has no experience hears "Work on yourself," "Better yourself," etc., he will often put a lot of work in on himself - but not on the 'fun' or 'inter…
