1500 is an average chess rating and can be accomplished with a fairly simple training plan. Although, a 1500 rating is extremely good compared to the general population. So for a national champion, ye it is.

My favorite bit was when her lawyer objected to his own question. From what I've learned this isn't THAT outrageous (in principle), if the witness tries to answer in the wrong way f.e. using hearsay. Not sure on the specifics for this trial.

It's still in progress afaik, but the prosecutor asked for 3 months prison. Which isn't much but it's The Netherlands, so I'm not actually sure how much of a pussypass that is or just lenient in general.

It is a very well established law, not quite on the same level as self defence, but unavoidably connected to it and in law school it is (one of) the first thing(s) that get addressed in criminal law.

Well it's not like any and all responses would be excused under this law, if he had pulled a gun and shot her he would have not been able to use this as a defense, even if it is also meant for disproportional responses in a self defense situation. I am not sure how it is determined whether it is too disproportional or not, but it is left at least partly to the judge(s) handling the case. We don't have a jury in our justice system so decisions like that are handled by trained professionals.

I don't quite understand your question, as I understand our law (I am not a lawyer) the guy in the video would not receive any punishment, whether he apologizes afterwards or not. But not sure if that answers your question.

IANAL, but in my country we have a law that applies to situations like this, retaliation beyond what is allowed through selfdefence will not carry punishment if it is an immediate response to a strong emotion caused by the assault. Like retaliating after getting angry because some bitch hit you in the face and walks off. I didn't say it was illegal, I said it wasn't available everywhere in the USA, which mainly comes from the fact that in a lot of states abortion isn't covered by insurance/public funding unless it is life threatening and a large part of the women who need abortions are underprivileged. On top of this there are very few places that are authorized to perform abortions in most states and mandatory waiting periods and counseling in quite a few.

With the assumption of weed I'd agree, but f.e. with abortion it isn't that easy. There is a limited time where this is an available choice and speaking up to change the law is not going to produce results in time.
