Correct. If there’s a later custody hearing down the road the therapist can offer his/her take to the judge in various ways. You can also get a guardian ad litem, which is the court basically providing your child with his own attorney. That knife cuts both ways though, so if you don’t run a tight ship in your own home around substances, schoolwork, etc. enter with caution.

It doesn’t have to be abuse. It just has to be clear to the therapist that your son has a better life when he’s with you more.

If you use a therapist, you can document his behavior and how she is treating him to get more custody.
