Yep, absolute nonsense. Since I'll be starting the process when he last one graduates HS, I'll just have to take on their college debt because the money I would be paying out right for it will go to the ex (or so the lawyers say). It's insane that in 2022, long term wives who decided to just go on the marriage ride and never contributed get rewarded with more not working. My ex is likely to get enough to live a decent (while not extravagant) life without working while I give her half the early r…

Right now while I'm still hurting from recently consulting 2 different divorce attorney's and finding that my wife almost never working for our 25 years and virtually living a retired lifestyle only helped her, I'm pretty bitter on women and the marriage system in the US right now. She got to live essentially retired her entire adult life and now I'll be on the hook for very near if not half of my pay permanently (unless she remarried some gullible dope) for her, half my retirement funds, half o…

I appreciate the advice. Luckily my youngest is 15 and all my kids know what life has been like. My middle child even asked me once when she was 14 why I didn't divorce her mom and be happy. That stung! Nah, once the last kid has moved onto college, she can only do to me what the legal system let's her do, and that's inevitable, so fuck her! Good luck brother!

I appreciate the guidance. I'm not suicidal, I'd never do that to my kids.

Yeah, that's essentially what I'm thinking. I've gone this long, no sense in screwing myself more because I'm impatient.

Yeah, I get that Iake good money, and I already work remotely, and yep, I could say fuck it and ditch everybody and just go to a cheap country and live like a king with half.my.salary...but I didn't work my ass off doing clege while in the military, working 2 jobs for most of my 20s, and put up with her bullshit to just leave behind my 3 kids and go across the world. I wouldn't be pissed at the situation if all it entailed was leaving my nice house. If I left today everything I wanna take would …

Wow, we have a lot of similarities. I'm also a caretaker, both around the house and her physically. We have kids, but with the youngest being 15, none of them require care anymore, so instead of expanding her side careers that could have been very lucrative, she got 2 dogs and made them her life...as in the kids are all jealous of how she cares for those dogs and how different it was for them. Meanwhile I'm picking up a second job because I work from home so I can afford to travel some. As far a…

Glad to see I'm not the only one for DB. I was on that sub for over 10 years (I think?) with another account and got banned one day for bigotry. The post I was commenting on had nothing to do with LGBTQ subjects. Aside from that I'm the prod parent of a gay child and of my the 8 people in my closest friend group, 4 of them are gay and married couples. The mod who sent me the ban was simply giddy at banning me for not liking an opinion and was quite open about it. Felt like a teen TBH. That sub h…

I didn't identify with any of the childhood stuff...like not any at all. I had a pretty loving home growing up and all the mother and no hugs stuff doesn't represent me at all, BUT, the book helped me tremendously! I married my wife at 18 with a baby already in hand and she had a very strong personality (I think possibly a vulnerable narcissist) and I took on a beta role very quickly to make peace...over and over and over. Around the 10 year mark I read NMMNG and another book and started learnin…

I feel this so much! Thank you for sharing. I only told my wife yesterday when we'll be making it official...long time, but necessary, especially with the housing market now. She hasn't worked in years, except for the MLM she got wrapped up in and hid almost $100k debt from me. Debt was mostly in her name, but about $35k in mine. We had no choice but to file for bankruptcy for her alone, so she's unlikely to be able to get a place at all even if I split all my income down the middle for her, and…

Combination of things. The biggest being that the 2 lawyers I've seen over the years both said local judges are highly likely to give her main custody unless I can prove physical abuse to the kids. With her BPD traits I'm just not willing to abandon the kids with her alone for regular periods...it's not all about physical. She's very very good with appearances. The rest is circumstance and obligation. Married at 18, she stayed home and has never had a career and now can't really make a living wa…

While there may be value in this, I have to disagree about your examples. Mine is an amazing gift giver. She can meet someone and give them something, big, small, or even just a favor, that they are in love with and had no idea they wanted within a few days. It's actually creepy how good she is. But that comes at a price. It's part of her cover for her complete lack of an ability not actually connect on a personal level. If she gives a $10 gift that you loved, you may get the nuke blow up when h…

I'm sorry you're dealing with this, no real advice, just support. My wife was referred to get evaluated because her therapist suspected she had BPD, and I can attest she has all but one of the traits for sure and most of the narcissistic traits. She refused to go for the eval and never went back to therapy again. That was like 12 years ago. I've wanted out for so so long, but after having seen 2 lawyers over the years and both saying the local judges highly favor mothers, I just wasn't willing t…
