Diamonds are sold in unimaginable quantities for industrial purposes, so the supply is not being held back in order to inflate the price. The demand is real, not inflated. Nobody is going to trust or spend money with a guy who bought a hunk of ore and a grinder on eBay and thinks they’ve discovered and produced high grade diamonds. When diamonds form, various chemical processes are responsible for the flaws (“inclusions”) in the stone. These chemical processes are present regardless of where the diamonds form - whether naturally or in a lab.
