A reflection from "ELONAIRES"Dude. That made me cry. I was alright until #4. I was married to a woman with BPD (so unique issues there) but she used my kindness and normal masculine characteristics against me. You’re definitely onto something here, OP. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/10/25 01:06 PM
Fathers who are on child support.I pay child support, AND I get my kids whatever they need when they’re with me (50/50). Clothes, sports gear, personal items, doesn’t matter - they need it, I’ll provide it. I don’t care what the ex does. I want my kids to know that I am going to take care of them because I love them. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/09/25 12:29 PM
How much documentation you needI recorded conversations (legal in my state) and turned them over to my lawyer. He was able to extract her contradicting herself, and basically treating me unfairly and admitting it. These were turned over to HER lawyer, and surprise surprise she backed off after hearing herself sound like a psycho. I have a lot more documented but that was all I needed to secure 50/50 custody without going to open court. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/07/25 04:48 PM
Has anyone else experienced this sudden 180 from breadcrumbing to intense sex + emotional whiplash? This was my first thought as well, having divorced my BPD ex earlier this year. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/07/25 01:26 PM
Spouse Legal FeesI did not. She lied to me and tried to charge her lawyer consult on a card I told her was off limits. I used that in negotiations. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/05/25 02:18 AM
Need advice from fathers who've dealt with unstable ex...scared of her at this pointMeaning, the others in the sub will be able to relate to your experiences more readily. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/01/25 04:34 PM
Need advice from fathers who've dealt with unstable ex...scared of her at this pointYou might have some success in the BPDLovedOnes sub. I’m a regular there, lol. I was married to a pwBPD too. It’s a nightmare. I currently have alimony, CS, and custody agreements done. Just need to wait a few months to finalize the big “D.” | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/01/25 04:34 PM
I am struggling to get by. I got a job offer to work as a contractor at Facebook. I could pick Miami, Austin or Atlanta. My son lives in Orlando, which office should I pick?I would pick Atlanta if this were me, due to the significantly lower cost of living there than the other 2 cities. I have family in FL (Tampa), Austin, and Atlanta, so I have a tiny bit of real world knowledge based on their experiences. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/01/25 03:24 PM
Advice on 50/50 custodyThe 1-yo will be difficult. However you can negotiate every detail of exchanges. Like, what time? Where? Whose responsibility? How many days with each parent in a row? Etc. So maybe try to come up with a workable, reasonable plan you can present. The judge will mostly only care about whether it appears like it’s best for the kids. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/01/25 12:48 PM
I WonGreat story man. I now have 50/50 custody after getting out of a physically violent marriage about 20 months ago. She took the kids to a different state for a few months. Then when she came back here, it was similar - every other weekend and a few hours during the week. Mine was closer to 15%. I got a lawyer and things changed pretty fast. I’m also rediscovering myself - back into music, meeting new people, spending time with my kids, etc. Life is better now than in the 5 years leading up to sep… | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/01/25 04:31 AM
STBXW wants to date after she moves outYeah. This is classic BPD. It’s not her egregious, u hinged behavior that’s the problem - it’s you for “making” her do it. Amiright? You need to know that nothing you do will ever make it better. It’s a disorder that you can’t fix. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/01/25 05:18 PM
STBXW wants to date after she moves outI should add: mine came at me with similar mental gymnastics- separate households, all the benefits, blah blah blah. When I didn’t immediately give in and make her fantasy a reality, she escalated the violence. I’m at 20 months separated and doing GREAT for myself now. No more walking on eggshells, fearing for my safety, or living with crazy “WTF” moments every day. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/01/25 02:49 PM
STBXW wants to date after she moves outI stopped at “Borderline.” Dude: RUN. My ex has BPD. This situation reeks of pure manipulation. It sucks and it hurts but it’s already over. “Sleepovers” and that bullshit is a manipulative attempt for her to keep you at arms length so SHE can get what SHE wants, nothing more. What you described is toxic beyond belief. DO NOT, for your own sanity and wellbeing, engage in this fantasy land that your ex is painting. It’s a lie, and you WILL get hurt. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/01/25 02:46 PM
From “I do” to Parenting Time and Custody OrdersMine was 10 pretty good years, then 10 years of pure hell. She then got physically abusive due to a personality disorder, and tried to stab me several times. We separated last year. So now I have 50 / 50 custody, alimony agreement, I file for divorce in April, and $40k in debt that has been absolutely worth the cost for, ya know, not fearing for my life every other day. It’s a mind trip for sure. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/12/24 06:44 PM
