And this is why I’m terrified to initiate divorce with my wife. I would like to hope it would be a 50/50 split, but all it takes is for her to change her mind. It’s not my fucking fault that she got PPD after our first kid and lost her fucking mind. I didn’t sign up for this shit, but yet, I’m the one that pays

Went to marriage/couples therapy for 2 years. I was hesitant at first, but went in with an open mind. Saw the first counselor for 6 months, before my wife and I both agreed that he wasn’t a good fit for us. A bad therapist can do lots of damage, so be aware of that. After 2 years of marriage counseling, it started to become a waste of time in my eyes, so I elected to stop going. Ended up seeing an individual therapist for about 3 months, which was helpful, but it was more about helping me cope w…

Even though our situations are different, I can 100% relate to you. Trying to help someone who is suffering from some sort of mental illness is exhausting and takes its toll on you. It’s not your fault for feeling indifferent to her emotions, that just you being numb to the same song and dance over and over. My wife suffered from severe postpartum depression after the birth of our son and she still hasn’t bounced back nearly 4 years later. She is so busy living in her head and in survival mode t…

Facts! I’m on intimacy attempt 6 in the last 3 weeks. 7th time is sure to be successful. I’ll learn eventually. 😂

What’s more frustrating is when they know what your needs are, but choose to ignore those needs. Then when you’re reaching out to them to get those needs met, you are fighting against 20 other variables. Did she have a bad day at work? Is she stressed about X, Y, Z? is she agitated with our kid? Even if I’m perfect, which I’m not, there are so many other things working against me that are out of my control.

Not divorced yet, but my marriage is currently not in a good place. For me, I would never remarry again. Date and hookup? Possibly, but NEVER remarry. Even though no infidelity took place (at least to my knowledge…), I still feel deeply betrayed by my wife and how her personality drastically changed a few years after we got married and had a kid.

Be careful with that mindset. My wife was a freak before we got married. She went from being my personal pornstar to a nun. Obviously not a legit nun, but you get what I mean.

Not divorced yet, but we have been knocking on that door for awhile now. I mentally checked out before my wife did. I realized it was over, when my wife was sitting there crying about our failed relationship. I couldn’t even bring myself to hug her and comfort her. Years of resentment from both sides, lack of accountability, and endless talks that were not backed up by actions is what did it for me.

Not divorced yet, but the impending doom feeling started when the resentment was too strong on both sides and that she wasn’t holding herself accountable for her behavior and actions

Hey there. Sorry it took so long for me to reply back. The last 5 days have just been nonstop busy. Anyway.. I do appreciate you commenting and sharing your view from the other side. As much as I would like to blame all of our problems on her PPD, I feel like it’s way deeper and complex than just that. The main dynamic shift I did notice during her PPD to current day, is she went from being somewhat submissive to needing to be in control. Due to this change, I stepped back and started letting he…

My gut tells me that there isn’t much I can really do on my end to resolve this problem. Im going to pull back and not seem so desperate for her, but the damage was already caused by me by “showing my hand”. I’m not hellbent on divorce (yet), but I still harbor a lot of resentment towards her to the point that even if she changed overnight, I would still be like wtf. The resentment is no secret and has been discussed dozens of times in marriage counseling

100% agree, but that’s the thing that is the most frustrating. When I was single way back in the day, that’s how I approached dating and was quite successful with it. Don’t chase; show enough interest to keep them guessing and want you; etc. It’s just completely stupid that I need to resort back to that tactic with someone that I’ve been with for 15 years. Have I become somewhat boring over time with our relationship? Of course, but we have a kid, careers, and responsibilities. It’s not like I c…

Oh.. im well aware that most people in this forum will be on my side, but that’s not what I’m looking for. It was just more of a rant. You can’t post stuff like this in deadbedroom or whatever else, because you get torn to shreds and instantly judged based off someone else’s experience If I’m really going to go through with a divorce just because some stranger on a divorce forum tells me to do it, then I’ve got bigger problems in my life.

From my experience, it feels like most therapists don’t want to challenge their patient/client. When I was looking for a therapist, my criteria was that they aren’t my friend and their job isn’t to be my echo chamber. If I’m being a fuck, tell me.

This is also why I don’t want to play the game anymore. I’m 41 years old and pretty successful in life. I don’t want to play this cat and mouse game. Getting too old for this shit

I appreciate all the feedback. I feel like if I would have posted this in other forums, I would be mauled for sharing my experience

This is my dilemma and why I’m making it worse. I’m pursuing her; sharing my feelings; etc. it’s “simp” behavior and a turnoff to most women. What happens if I don’t do anything? Nothing happens and I get to hear nonstop about how we are roommates and she doesn’t like it

Any chance of both of you agreeing on trying marriage counseling?

Lol. I posted in there about my failed relationship with my wife and even admitted I played a role in her not desiring me or no longer having feelings for me. 90% of the comments were my wife doesn’t owe me sex. Yes… very true, but when I got married, I signed up for monogamy, not celibacy. It was taken down for “hate speech”

Not divorced, but marriage started going downhill after the birth of our child 4 years ago. After 2 years of marriage counseling and continuous communication with each other, still in a sexless marriage. Divorce isn’t an option, because I don’t want to do that to my son, so Prozac is how I cope. Lol.
