Thanks for your help. He actually has the phone and brought it with him(he bought it with his money, so I don't think that could be considered theft)and I've made a back-up of all the data on the phone, especially contacts and text conversations. Is there anything else I can do? Something I can install that will keep a record even if she deletes the messages?

Her deceased ex-husband's family currently has custody of the two oldest boys(this was even before they met) and about two weeks ago the older sister of the ex fb messaged me out of the blue, saying how sorry she felt for my brother. You have to remember, this is about fairness of the law and making sure that it applies to both female and male equally. I, for one, don't like to see a man leave and I believe it's brave and admirable that some will stay and raise kids that aren't even their own in some cases. My brother in law took on three that weren't his when he married my sister. He's a heck of a guy in my book. However, it should be his choice. He shouldn't be forced by law, especially when it doesn't work the other way.

I upvoted you, truth is, human absurdity is at it peak at an awards show. It was inappropriate, sure, but this doesn't surprise me in the least. If it was a female educator or health care provider, or a public official who has a professional/moral responsibility I would be more alarmed. Just my opinion, but I believe very few people will take Jenny McCarthy's example to heart, it's not like Oprah did it.

How does it make you feel knowing that a simple yes or no head shake from the kid was all that separated you from handcuffs? I agree with what you did, I would've done the same thing myself, it's just terrifying when you consider what could have easily happened.

Nah, I don't see all people that way, but I have seen people change, people I thought could never change(or at least change into who they are now). When it's a friend it sucks, but at least there's no legal issues involved. When it happens in a marriage, though, I think that's why situations like OP's are happening more and more.
