It’s not that, it’s just the whole first paragraph is slurping major dick for no reason, and the ~feminist~ bit can’t stand on its own. Men as a class don’t need to be told they’re on our minds all the livelong day.

Men have been ain’t-shit forever. The internet just makes it more visible. Why do you think divorce was outlawed and stigmatized for so long - many could only get women to stay with them by force.

Also men: It’s been a whole year since our baby was born, why do you still look like a mom??

"A child in the making is basically a child" Just as a tree is basically a ream of paper, right? A few logs are basically a ladder, and a few walls are basically a house! I know we can't really hope come to an agreement but that's ok! There need to be people on both "extreme" ends of issues, since most people don't think about these types of things at all! Hopefully someone smarter than us can eventually develop some workable compromise, because I can't see it! Lol It's been nice chatting with y…

Oh geez. People can't pick and choose their consequences, but they can certainly choose how to handle them! Consequence: pregnancy Solutions: abortion, parenting, adoption Just like Consequence: syphilis Solutions: medications to eradicate, pretending it will go away but actually just suffering entirely-preventable brain damage You wouldn't say that irreparable brain damage is a natural consequence of sex, it is simply the manifestation of untreated syphilis. A baby is one of the natural consequ…

And, carrying a pregnancy is the responsibility of sexually active heterosexual women everywhere? Nah, pregnancy is a consequence of sex, not unlike an STD, that can be dealt with in various ways: taking medication to end the condition, or ignoring the condition and allowing it to play out, resulting in a baby. To say sex=pregnancy=baby ignores the burden placed on women to actually bear and deliver that baby over a period of 10 months, when maybe all they wanted was some casual sex. Not every w…

Children do not exist until they are born. Biology must also be so frustrating for you. You think my solipsism is irritating, imagine the ego of the men who believe that their vote/opinion regarding a pregnancy is equal to (and even greater than) the vote of the woman carrying it! What a world to live in!

Abortion is a way of taking responsibility of a pregnancy. I'm sorry you don't feel the same.

So... women should not have ownership over their own bodies because some men don't want the legal responsibilities of child rearing currently, but for some reason they desperately want the potential children they would have in the world without abortion? Your solution to men being "stuck" with child support they didn't agree to is to make more babies that people don't want? 😂

Eh, if it's a personal medical decision, yeah! The alternative is "other people's opinion on my body matters more than my own opinion," which is hilarious! 😜

So, to alleviate the male discomfort of having to by choosy about partners, your suggestion would be to force every woman to carry every single pregnancy that arises from recreational sex. Progress!

Reason number one to get an abortion: someone is pregnant and doesn't want to be. No other explanation is necessary.

Men will always have the option of choosing their sexual partners more carefully, telling each woman he meets that he is only looking for reproduction, not recreation. But you seem to think that is too much of a burden, probably because so few people would agree to casual/continued sex under those conditions.

You genuinely believe that beliefs and mentalities stemming from abortion are going to end the human race and the planet, and as such, women today should not be given the choice to have one. It blows my mind. At the end of the day, the rest of the population will keep living our lives in reality, having sex whenever we want, and not having babies. I can't imagine why someone would truly want to make sex less safe and fun, unless it is something that they don't partake in regularly and don't see …

It's just baffling that you think abortion doesn't exist. "We cannot choose to do it," yet that is literally what people do??? Your argument is that there shouldn't be alternatives to pregnancy, but you keep saying that there are not alternatives. It's simply outdated but it is your right, if you choose to believe these things. It is not your right to make the same decision for other people.

It's dependent on modern medicine because people use it and it works, consistently. In this scenario, are all the women out in the woods? Why would they not have consistent access to modern medicine? Have they gone back In time? Would an argument about electricity be just as entirely absurd, because it is manmade and therefore fallible? It cracks me up that you can acknowledge an iPhone as a "collection of things that doesn't really exist in the way we think it does," but have no problem concept…

Do you really think that the use of abortion will destroy the human race? We've got a crazy amount of people already! Do you think that, without legislation, every woman who gets pregnant will independently decide that she doesn't want to have babies? If so, what is stopping women from doing that already? It's telling, that you think a woman, given the choice between carrying to term or termination, would choose abortion to the point of species depletion. So the solution to that conundrum is to …

If a man wants to have a baby, he should choose his sexual partners accordingly. Some women don't want to have babies, yet still enjoy sex (it's shocking, I know!) and this is a rational position to take. Pregnancy is now separate from sex, with the help of modern medicine. Why should women at large forgo recreational sex just because some people still believe that pregnancy is an inevitability? You address potential fears of women, but none account for a simple want - does the woman want to be …

Yeah, we're at an impasse. You fail to see the pregnancy as a process that women, or even humans at all, can control. And that is simply, factually false in the face of modern medicine - why don't you want to take advantage of scientific advances? Because you think it doesn't actually exist? Do you think iPhones exist, or are they a myth created by society as well?
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/17 04:29 PM

So... birth control does not actually exist, because you don't personally care for it? Alright.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/17 04:26 PM

Medications designed for a specific sex - birth control for instance - are not instances of discrimination against men, they are innovations to improve the lives of women. Just as the invention of viagra was not sexist against women - it does no harm, but only helps. How is helping one group with a problem unique to them discrimination upon another group who does not experience the problem? It's illogical.

Your idea of toxic sexism is kitchen jokes??? I guess things would be much easier if we as a society could finally settle on some distinct definitions.

Written like a true man. 😂😂😂 Get back in the garage, you have no place talking about sexism if you can't even identify it properly.

Because people like having sex for fun. You can argue til you're blue in the face that sex is for procreation only, but everywhere you look outside will tell you otherwise. I'm sorry this is hard to comprehend. But making fun things safer is sort of what is great about the world! I'm sorry you don't want to take part, but your personal commitment to misery will not make the human race stop enjoying sex for the sake it itself!

So, by "taking responsibility for our lives" you mean every woman be compelled to carry to term - how is she taking responsibility? If "take responsibility" means to make ones own decisions about what is best for oneself, and to deal with the consequences of ones actions, either option is a responsible one. One consequence of sex is pregnancy, sure. But you fail to see abortion as just another way of taking responsibility of said consequence, and in doing so negate the autonomy of pregnant women…

I've heard of women throwing themselves down stairs on their stomachs to self abort a pregnancy they never wanted, cannot afford, and refuse to be forced to carry. 💁🏻 It is their own body, they will find a way to do what they want with it, one way or another.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/17 07:32 AM

Yeah, normal people have sex for fun. You can get "back to nature" or whatever if you'd like to and go for reproduction only, but most human beings just like sex recreationally, as often as possible. Why do you want everyone else's sex to be reserved only for procreation?
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/17 07:29 AM

Your argument is that sex = baby. My argument is that it doesn't have to. If you don't want an abortion, that's fine. If you are incapable of having an abortion, your opinion on them is less relevant than those who can. Sorry, sometimes life is unfair - but I think it is more unfair to force someone to carry a pregnancy they don't want. 💁🏻

STDs are natural, but you'll surely take your antibiotics rather than live out the totally natural consequences of syphilis. 😂
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/17 06:59 AM

It's not ideal, sure. But the only alternative is to literally tell half of the population that they do not have control over what happens with their own body. The ends do not justify the means.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/17 06:58 AM

All the relevance in the world! We are social animals, we build the type of world that we want to live in - would you like to live in a world where you do not have true (or even legal) control over what happens with your own body? I don't.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/17 05:35 AM
2

I mean, what are your thoughts on bodily autonomy? Do people own their own bodies? If not, what kind of world do we even live in? If so, how is your position defensible?
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/17 05:15 AM

Yeah, but not necessarily - medicine has never been more advanced and abortions are now safer than pregnancies. Plus, women have been getting abortions forever, they aren't a new invention.

He could keep it if he were capable of bearing it himself but, since he relies on someone else to carry the baby to term, he must also make sure that she consents to using her body in such a way. As long as your wishes require the participation of another person, that person's opinion will always matter.

Same answer: you cannot force someone to undergo a process/procedure (birth/pregnancy) that they do not wish to do.
