You were honest about your intentions and decided not to compromise on what was going to make you happy in this interaction. Nothing wrong with that. If you're not interested in her being a friend, let this one go. You can even straight up tell her that you'd be happier taking her on a date, and that it was nice running in to her either way. Move on for now if she's seeing someone else. unless you're ok with having another friend (which never hurts).

I would let her know ahead of time that you're coming. But you should definitely go if you can.
