With women, you have to appeal to their emotions, "you know, I'm a boy...how do you think I feel when you equate what I am with his poor behavior?" Good luck. And careful, while I do think this is a clear example of how women manipulate young boys to seek their approval their entire life, leading to them ignoring red flags "because validation is worth it", I don't believe you should be trying to fix/educate your parents. My bad. Imo, that sort of sentiment would look like "screw them both, we've already got cancer awareness day" or something. I've got an even better idea: how about we ignore all of it? Someone wishes a you a "happy <insert bullshit here> day" and you reply "sorry, I don't celebrate that". Then we can stop discussing all of this at all because it's just a distraction from real change. Awareness of the issues is rarely the problem anymore.
