If they do, the contract is voidable at their option whenever they choose. This is actually fairly normal for the way the law treats the consent of minors. The charges didn't arise because he went to the police, they arose because his parents found out and called the police. The problem is that at the age of 13, the boy does not have the ability to legally consent to the crime act.
