If you don’t think that gender roles serve a purpose then why do you think society came up with them in the first place?

Your right. Men and women are equal before the law. But what feminists are now trying to do is remove the “gendered boxes” now. Which I disagree with. They should have just stopped at equal rights. That’s it.

If by freedom you mean in the legal sense then sure. But in the societal gender role sense pressures should exist to conform. Of course not everyone will but the majority should.

So you still want the gender roles in your life but just the ones that benefit you

Legally no, they don’t have to fill a traditional gender role. But that those roles should still exist and should still have the power to sway people’s life decisions. If you chose not follow them, no one can stop you, but that society should not conform to whatever free choice you have made.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
