Privilege exists, but laws should not be changed because of them. For example, I truly believe hundreds of years of slavery still have impacts today on blacks in America - but there is no way in hell I'm supporting affirmative action. Not only will it not do any good the long run, it's unfair to all the non-blacks who would have gotten into that college, workplace, etc.

That's a good point - it looks like the author does warn about the legality concerns. Personally I think it's worth the risk even in states where it is illegal, because at least in the Court of Public Opinion, you can salvage your character. That is infinitely more important than whether or not the recording can be admitted in a court of law. That's a very good point. Also, women sometimes don't consider that many men "mansplain" to not only women but other men. i.e. they do it because it's in their personality to interrupt everyone, or overexploit everything, not because they are doing it BECAUSE they are a woman. There is no doubt a shameful treatment of women in certain cultures, and I'm sure Islam has a part to play in that. But you would be surprised at the number of Muslim countries that treat women very well, including Indonesia, Iran, and parts of Eastern Asia. Also keep in mind these women victims are also likely Muslim themselves - so what are you going to do, hate both the Muslim men and Muslim women?
