Except for Naomi Judd. Was surprised to learn that she used a gun to kill herself because I had assumed it would be pills as you say in your post.

You're so right about the lack of white couples in mainstream TV and films. The only way it happens if they're a same sex couple. Otherwise, one or both are non white. Disney (which now owns Hulu) is the worse offender for this. The only way you might see such a couple is on a longer running TV series where the couple was already established seasons ago so they keep them together for that reason.

My mom is the same way. She just assumes I'm overreacting and that if I sleep on it, the problem will go away. Heh, not at all how depression works. If anything, I sleep too much because of my depression.

It's so ridiculous. As someone who has struggled with depression most of my teen and now adult life, the double standard with how mental illness is viewed in men vs. women leads to what you referenced, the incredibly high suicide rates among men. Of course, since it's a male issue and society now more than ever doesn't care about men, it's never discussed and is only going to get worse.

Well, there are multiple TV networks whose programming by and large make men look awful so one show is a comparative nothingburger. The Lifetime Channel and its movie network LMN are what I like to call "The Women Who Hate Men" networks because men are either treated terribly by women on there or portrayed as psychopaths who go around hurting women for the fun of it. It's ridiculous that such networks can exist but if you switched the genders, there would be an outrage.

Movie was filmed a long time ago, back when they were still together.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
