Oh I completely agree that the reality is that rehab doesn't occur. It's a goal that the US isn't even trying to attain even though there's a ton of data that it works in other countries.

Not to mention the goal should be to rehabilitate the person. That way not only are they not committing more crimes to avoid punishment, but they also don't want to commit more crimes and don't feel they need to. Anyone can get to the point where the perceived reward for commiting the crime is worth the potential punishment. That's why you want to rehabilitate people.

This doesn't have to do with the article but to address the question, it has to do with how drunk both parties were. If a tipsy dude has sex with a girl who's blacked out, it's rape. If they're both just tipsy, it's not.

Once again, not guessing. There is video evidence of a man accelerating into a crowd. There is no guess work involved. When you accelerate into a crowd, you're going to kill people. There was no danger behind him, so he wasn't trying to escape anything or in self defense. The only option that leaves is intention to harm/kill. You find it shockingly easy to defend this guy

I believe people saying there isn't enough evidence have a fundamental misunderstanding of what is required to establish intent. You don't need a piece of paper stating "I will drive my car into a crowd of people" to establish intent and indict for murder. Pretty clear none of you believe he meant to kill these people, which is pretty ridiculous given the footage. Might see about checking your biases.

Manslaughter is when someone is texting and driving and hits a pedestrian. It's not when someone aware of his surroundings accelerates into a crowd of people and runs away

Premeditated and intentional are not synonymous in any way. I can go to a bar and have no premeditate getting into a fight but still very intentionally punch someone. Maybe he broke before hitting the car so he could fucking escape? He reversed and ran, in case you forgot. Why didn't he break before hitting a crowd of people? He ACCELERATED into them. Jesus, the lengths people are going to defend this guy is insane.

All the evidence points toward intention. He was at a stop and accelerated into a crowd. There were more people in front of him than to the various side streets or in reverse. He proves he could have reversed the car when he tries to escape after killing someone. Quit arguing that he was a scared idiot. Scared people don't drive towards crowds of the people they're afraid of. It was intentional. He's a criminal and a terrorist.

You're right about changing laws for immigrant. Changing laws and wages for certain groups is a verrrry slippery slope. Look at the Philippines for example. But yeah no way he gets off for that?? If someone slaps my car I don't get to drive into protestors. That's not how self defense works.

Lol this sub is full of dudes who hate other people because their lives suck. Just look at this post it has nothing to do with the theme of the subreddit because it's gone to shit. Know several people who have been in Europe for 6 months to a year and nobody had any issues with refugees and said the same as you.

Where did you get .05%? That's ridiculously low. Wikipedia is showing around 2%

I am pro choice! My personal belief is that abortion should be legal until the third trimester (except for cases of the mothers health, which would extend the limit). The two are not mutually exclusive. I'm not saying don't have sex. But if the mother is unwilling to go through with an abortion, you still fathered that kid ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Gonna go ahead and disagree with this. When you have sex you know there's a risk of pregnancy and she might keep the kid. You risk it every time you have sex. You gotta be able to handle the responsibility of having a kid. It's part of life.

Your argument is a slippery slope and hyperbole. If you want to get silly posters like this gone you can't use those kinds of arguments or you won't be taken seriously.

This type of comment discourages debate.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
