I was in a similar situation years back where I was the "doormat". You need to first and foremost, respect yourself. Always looks out for #1. Nobody is going to automatically grant respect to some skinny-fat string bean because he read a few TRP posts, so I hope you are lifting like your life depends on it. Because it does. If you haven't already, I highly suggest you read "No More Mr. Nice Guy" by Robert Glover. It was a game changer for my mindset

As the saying goes, "It's lonely at the top" You realize that a lot of your "friends" don't have your best interest in mind and will try to drag you back down to your old ways once they see that you are improving. Your improvement makes them feel uncomfortable with their stagnation and they don't have the determination or willpower to do what you're doing. It's the "crabs in a bucket" mentality.
