My plan is to finish school for a 6 figure profession. I was halfway there before I became a SAHD. So I'm just going to finish that up. It's 3-4 years, there's no doing it faster. It's also a calling of mine. It's something I chose to do and really want to do, as well as enjoy most of the process of getting there. It takes a lot of doing, which I am. It takes a lot of planning, which I'm good at. It takes a lot of organization and grit, which I have. I work on it everyday and I have my ducks in …

I don't plan to leave my wife. The stay plan is the go plan. My plan is going to be implemented either way. It's just a long more difficult, in all, going the divorce option. You see, she makes all the money right now, and good money. Also, I get to see my children every day. These would be trade offs in divorcing my wife and getting away from dealing with her problems intimately and daily. My situation is honestly not that bad. It sucks that I got myself married to someone with a character like…

OYS# 8 Stats: 40+ 6' 203 lbs, -2.5 lbs a week since March. Married 20 years 3 kids under 7. Still lifting heavy 3+ days a week. Reading: Meditations by Marcus Arelius. Bang. Already read all the other sidebar stuff multiple times MAP: The stay plan is the go plan. Still digging myself out of drunk captain/bp-minded hell. The long plan is 3-4 years. I'm on track so far, no shit. Frame: I think mindfulness, gratitude, and rationalization of my situation will help me maintain frame. It's hard to be…

OYS #6 STATS: 40+, 6', 212lbs -7 in last 3 weeks, since last OYS I posted, 29 BMI, married 20 years, 3 kids 2,4,6. FITNESS: Continuing to lift hard. Gaining strength while losing a lot of weight. Read: WISNIFG 10+ times, The Rational Male 3x, NMMNG 4x, WOTSM 3x, MMSLP, TMAP, Book of Pook, Pracitcal female psychology. This last few weeks I read 48 laws of power, 48 laws of human nature. Listened to a Rian Stone podcast. Been reading the curated posts from MRP. DREAD: I'm stuck on level 1 and 2 be…

OYS #5 STATS: 40+, 6', 219lbs, 29 BMI, married 20 years, 3 kids 2,4,6. FITNESS: Still lifting at least 3 days a week. Still losing a lot of weight. Over 40 lbs so far. Made the goal early this week of no longer being "obese" according to BMI charts. I have fucked up my leg somehow in the hip, knee, and ankle. I attribute it to not doing any lower body stretching. I've been adding a lower body stretching routine into my workout and it's better. But my knee is still popping and painful to go up …

This is true. OP is appealing to authority of Psychological Science. However, it’s a bait and switch. Attachment Theory is generally well accepted in Psychology… for infant, not adults! It’s quite inconclusive in the actual scientific study within psychology. And that’s a big deal because psychology is a “soft” science. A lot of research cannot be replicated, in the worst way: researchers have been replicating experiments and getting different results! Even for the most easily replicated studies…

Yes, I think I am starting to understand STFU. I agree that it's impossible to win if she's dead set on manipulation. Getting tons of shit tests going into shark week this week. Egs. Yesterday I told her someone is interested in a $$$$ item I'm currently selling. And she instantly jumped excitedly to "Are you going to have him come over tonight and buy it?!" I showed a tiny minuscule shred of annoyance in my voice as I tried to rewind it to where I'm at. "I don't know, but I don't think so. I wa…

Hah, you sniffed that shit out.. and I'm happy to own it. I'll add leg day and make sure it includes squats and deadlifts for heaviest barbell free weight. And it would make my legs more well rounded in strength instead of just really good at walking in a forward motion.

Losing weight at 2.5 lbs a week for over 3 months straight. Still have like 50 lbs to lose. BF% seems irrelevant at this point. It's probably like 25-28%? Just doesn't seem worth writing or tracking until it get below 20%. I'm doing 3 different lift days on a 6 day schedule: Chest/back, shoulders/core, and biceps/triceps. I'm doing a ton of cardio, and my legs are already huge since I'm a fat ass. I try to do the most heavy free weights I can. But I'm also trying to get in a varied workout in a …

OYS #4 STATS: 40+, 6', 221lbs, 30 BMI, married 20 years, 3 kids 2,4,6. FITNESS: Still hitting the gym and lifting at least 3 days a week. Meeting all goals and expectations. STFU: Research in MRP turned up a simple breakdown post. And I'll further sum up what it summed up: STFU about beta signaling stuff: Validation seeking, sadness, and anxiety. That really clicked for me because it's so simple and easy to remember in practice. STFU about sadness and anxiety was easy enough in practice. But I d…

OYS #3 STATS: 40+, 6', 225lbs, 31 BMI, married 20 years, 3 kids 2,4,6. FITNESS: Still hitting the gym and lifting at least 3 days a week. Last week wanted to change up the workout. But then I forgot to combine chest with back on old chest day at the gym, and ended up avoiding doing core anaerobic workouts on the other day as well. I'm not going to beat myself up about it too much. In the past, I had a tendency to get really down if I wavered from my intense regimen at all, and then that would sn…

OYS #2 STATS: 40+, 6', 227lbs, 32 BMI, married 20 years, 3 kids 2,4,6. FITNESS: Still hitting the gym and lifting at least 3 days a week. Lost 35 lbs since I started at the Ides of March. Gaining or maintaining muscle mass as well. I'm getting to a place where I'm going to switch up he workout to stay fresh and up the intensity, to keep the progress clipping along. I am really pleased so far. And that's the danger of getting complacent. So I am going to make sure to do these changes this week. R…

Sorry, I didn't see your reply. MRP said I couldn't post that OYS since my account was too new, so I just was going to wait until this week, and didn't log back in. I guess the mods allowed it after the fact. Our sex life is not bad. I am the only one initiating because of some miscommunication and issues that led to my wife believing I didn't want her to initiate. And now she's just gotten used to being the passive one. Yes, phisique and career are my biggest weak points right now. I used to lo…

OYS #1 STATS: 40+, 6', 230lbs, 32 BMI, married 20 years, 3 kids 2,4,6. FITNESS: Focusing on losing weight for the last 2.5 months, since I'm a huge fat ass. I already lost about 25lbs. Exactly in line with my goal of 10lbs a month. 2.5 lbs a week. Calories in/calories out works. I'm not going to go crazy weighing my food, or detailing every calorie I expended. But I can obviously ballpark it accurately. I am lifting 3 days a week as well as cardio 5 days a week. READING: NNMNG 2.5x, TWOTSM x2, B…

>You are entering her frame. You are defending, explaining, rationalizing. Yes, that's how I've failed the shit tests in the past. Now I flail my arms, and fast talk to tell her I'm going to the gym and I'd like to talk to her more when she's done acting like a bitch. And then I just leave. But she says she doesn't even like the flailing of arms and the long fast explanation. She probably just wants me to raise an eyebrow like Dwayne Johnson, and just grunt, headed to the gym now. That's exactly…

Lol, finally got what I wanted. But it sounds like I'm a woman anyway, haha. You're not hers, it's her turn. Damn. Thanks for changing my tampon for me. Damn. This one honestly puts me in my place more than everyone else's replies so far. What am I doing living in her frame? Asking for permission to be myself? Coming to AskMRP to victim puke about it. God, I could make this a real habit. What an insecure person I am. I guess that's the nuance I am looking for. Lean into it. Have confidence in it…

So stoicism is the virtue, and anything less than that is just making excuses to not change? It just seems like zero nuance to me. As if I can change any number of other things about myself, but if I'm going to be emotional then I'm just going to fail no matter what. But many do make it work. There are many more examples of neurotic men and IRL not a movie character. They make it work. It just isn't an attractive trait to have. So it's anti-MRP. I guess I see your point as to why I'm getting the…

So my post is just antithetical to MRP philosophies, and to be eschewed here. Makes sense why I didn't see anything about emotional MRP men. If I want to do this, then I'm on my own. It's okay, worth the ask still imo

Understood. Tangent, my grandpa actually did that. He divorced from his wife and started a relationship with a man. I'm far too hetero for that. I want to be the man. Is there any more nuance though? Like, what if I dreamed up my own reality that DOES now work but was still an unpredictable narcissistic fueled hamster having asshole?

Basically, compensate for bad temperment? Got it.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
